It's laser. Basically the same as the MX700, but it's a laser instead of an LED.

Oh, that gives me an idea. I just got $100 from my aunt and uncle. $50 of it can go towards buying Forza Motorsport when it comes out and the other $50 could go towards an MX700. The stupid wire on my mouse always catches on the side of my case and it drives me crazy. Wireless would be a godsend.

My experience with wireless was that it wasn't fluid enough for gaming... supposedly the MX1000 is some other sort of RF than what was used in the past and is much smoother... just trying to figure that out before I decide whether or not to engage in a full-out drool.

From what I've heard, the new Logitech's are fine for gaming. Ask Brandon... he has an MX700 and as far as I know, it works just fine.

Well, that answers that question...  I'm behind the times :x

"The MX1000 communicates with your computer wirelessly via a Logitech technology call Fast RF. Fast RF, which uses the 27 MHz band, allows mice to deliver up to 125 reports per second, approximately 2.5 times more than other RF-based cordless mice."

Apparently, the 27.045 and 27.145 MHz frequencies (or the 27 MHz band) are the standard now... guess I was just too quick on that technology back in the day.  And omfg, this thing has 8 freaking buttons...

I think it's the same design as my MX500 that I've had for 2 years. It's great. I've got more buttons that I know what to do with.

Actually, not. I use them all. Left-click, right-click, small thumb button for Start Menu, big one for Back in browsers, cruise up/down are set to really high settings so I can get to the bottom of pages really fast, and the one that replaces Alt-Tab by default is set to maximize windows. It works great.

as much as i hate microsoft, i have an optical wireless mouse and wireless keyboard set that are top notch.  theyve allowed me to utilize my lazyboy as my new PC chair, which is a lot better than the hardwood of the old kitchen chair i was using.  the optical mouse sits on the arm of my chair instead of a tv remote haha, and i can just the keyboard in my lap.

I doubt I'd ever really notice the difference between like an MX500 and the MX1000. In fact, I'm really tempted to get an MX700 since the wire on my 500 is driving me absolutely insane lately.

I should get a wireless mouse at some point. I use so much slack on my mouse it's ridiculous. I hate having any sort of resistance

Same. The resistance on the wire drives me crazy. I have to tape the wire to my case so it doesn't flop over onto one side of the case and then really cause drag. I'm ready to just spend some of the money I got for Christmas on an MX700 or maybe even the 1000 and just be done with it.

My major problem is when the wire slides down, I don't have the slack that I need... and as much as I throw my mouse around, I can't keep all that slack there... I think me and elmo are in the same boat.  I got Christmas money, but unfortunately, all of that will replace the money I had to use to buy Christmas stuff for everyone else, so I get no self-bought presents D:
