Well, yeah. Even if it sucked, it could either be traded in for something else or sold for parts.

Either they changed something on it to make it look better or the paint scheme just makes it look better, but here's the official unveiling of the new Dodge Charger for NASCAR: http://i.a.cnn.net/nascar/2005/news/headlines/cup/01/11/dodge.charger/charger_t1.jpg

Heh, that doesn't look all that different than the Intrepid. Isn't that what Dodge ran last year?

Yeah, they used to run the Intrepid. The thing is, after all the modifications they have to make to the cars to make them all aeromatch, they end up not looking anything like the street car. Still, Dodge had to come up with a new car because the actual stock car has to use a standard nose and tail from the manufacturer that is similar to the street car. Kind of hard for Dodge to do nowadays since, for some reason, they're sticking the massive Ram grille on all their cars

Dodge's and Nissan's top designers must have been roommates in college or something because Nissan has been putting stupid-looking grilles on their cars for a while, too. Their trucks are hideous.

Let's just be happy that this test version of the NASCAR Dodge Charger didn't make it...

i know everybody seems to be hating the Charger (and for the record, that NASCAR version is damn ugly)... but heres the concept they started with back in '99.  From what i understand, the production model wont be a drastic shift.

That concept isn't bad. I'm still not a fan of that grille or the fact that it's a sedan, but it's not bad.

ack.  ive seen the production model (went to a car show in omaha this week) of the Charger, and it is NOT COO.  theyve used the 300M platform, and its now a lot boxier than the concept, especially the front of the car. ah well, another concept destroyed by interchangeable parts.

Once again what could have been a cool car destroyed by Dodge's policy of using the Ram grille

The problem is they put the grille way too far down and they have all that extra space at the top

Yeah. The grille is small enough width-wise that it could be okay but it's too far down. It's not necessarily a bad concept, but it's poor execution.

It looks like the new Chargers are working well in NASCAR judging by the Bud Shootout tonight. They still look weird with the big grille on the bottom

Ryan Newman, driving a Dodge, finished second so it's quite possible. Casey Mears was also doing a pretty dang good job but he was eventually shuffled to the back after making contact with Tony Stewart
