I don't think anybody likes the RIAA... except Sony.

Last CDs I got were Fiona Apple - Tidal, and Audioslave's first self-titled CD.

Aight, my list is rather lengthy since i haven't kept up with this line of thought in awhile.

Atreyu "Death Grip on Yesterday"  Badass, evolution from the last two albums but still rockin it hard.  Metalcore?  Maybe not quite as much, but i think the songs on this album still show an awesome progression as a whole.

Bullet For My Valentine "the Poison" Aight, this album gets my vote for the best album of 05 even though I missed it til 06.  This band is a nice mix of hardcore and melody.  It's like if someone took Master of Puppets era Metallica and fused with a band like Incubus or LostProphets.  Damn good stuff.

Kerrang's "Metallica: Master of Puppets Remastered"  SO Kerrang is a pretty decent metal mag, only problem is they're published in the UK.  THis album is only available with the April release of the mag, and we don't have the best shops here in Panama CIty to track down such things, so i unfortunately downloaded it. it is awesome!  the 8 songs of the original album redone by 8 diff bands such as Metallica, Trivium, Mendeed, Bullet for My Valentine, CHimaira, FIghtstar, Mastodon and Funeral for a Friend.  The covers on here are just awesome.  I've been cranking this album nonstop for the last few days, and really reminds me how much this album changed the way i look at music.  Master of Puppets is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month, kinda crazy.

It is pretty crazy to think that that album's been around for 20 years. Also crazy to think that they've been around for 25 years this year.

wow, so its been awhile since anybody posted in here.... I've gotten an ungodful number of albums since I last said anything, but the newest ones I've picked up are:

The Haunted "The Dead Eye": What is it about the friggin' water in Sweden that makes everybody form heavy metal bands, and then sing in English, and KICK ASS?!  I liked these guys previous albums, but the newest one adds a whole new dynamic that I'm keenin on: Melody!  You gotta mellow out that brewtality with some clean guitars or vox every now and then, and these guys got the balance right on this one.

The Propellerheads "Decksndrumsnrocknroll": Okay, so technically this album came out in 1998.  I liked some of the music off it, and FINALLY tracked it down.  Most famous for "Spybreak!", the song playing during the lobby scene in the Matrix.  My favorite, and reason for buying the album is "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", an awesome techno rendition of some Bond music.  I love these guys, even though their techno/electronica/whatever.

I haven't bought a CD since 311's Don't Tread On Me... which was a severely disappointing CD with the exception of two songs... which just happen to be the two singles from the CD

The last 2 I got:

Iron Maiden - A Matter Of Life And Death
The Levellers - Levelling the Land

You have to hear the Road by the Levellers, it is pot-smoking-hippie awsome.

Picked up He is Legend's Suck Out the Poison and acquired Machine Head's The Blackening, both of which are phenomenal metal albums.

So I've found a few more in a quick hurry.

Clutch "Beale St to Oblivion"  I just saw these guys in concert last Friday in ATL and they played probably 2/3 of this upcoming album live.  It is AWESOME!  They're branching even further into their bluesy rock, with slide guitars and harmonicas.  Good stuff.

Type O Negative "Dead Again" Starting to head in older directions while still retaining some of the vibe found on "World Coming Down"  This album is long overdue, and while good, not as great as I hoped.

Rodrigo y Gabriela "Rodrigo y Gabriela" These two are a classical/flamenco guitar duo, and their playing is amazing.  Think instrumental Gypsy Kings with modern flair.  Several well-written compositions with at least a few covers for good measure.  Stairway to Heaven is included, but the true gem is their version of Metallica's "Orion".  WOW.

Under the Influence of Giants "Under the Influence of Giants" A very poppy/electronicy act.  I'm not sure how they qualify as anything other than a guilty pleasure.  Damn good songs, in that Depeche Mode/Head Automatica kinda way.  I love these guys.

He is Legend "I am Hollywood"  Their newest album "Suck Out the Poison" is my favorite at the moment.  This is the album before it.  It's pretty solid but not as good.  You can see the progression between the two albums, but it's still more inventive than a lot of folks out there.  It's heavy music, but not metal in a traditional sense.  These guys kinda flail all over the place, they can play their asses off too.

I don't know how I didn't realize this earlier, but that CLUTCH album... it's the third I've mentioned in this thread since Dec 2004!  That's three albums in 3 years!  And those three are the best of their careers!  DAMN!

I also got the Linkin Park aways back.  It's got some good moments on it, though it's nothing like what we would have expected.

Also acquired or bought in the last few weeks...
Ozzy Osbourne- Black Rain (damn good, the best album since No More Tears and Ozzmosis)

Megadeth - United Abominations (their best since Youthanasia, more of an older flavor, back to the thrash)

Marilyn Manson - Eat Me, Drink Me (still listening to it... kinda mellow for him, close to the Mechanical Animals style of writing.)

Black Light Burns - Cruel Melody (new album from Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit fame... its more of a goth Cure meets NIN... friggin awesome)

Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero (this might be my favorite NIN album as a whole so far... more stable and listenable than previous albums)

Fightstar - Grand Unification (a "metal" album from some former Brit-pop stars... its fairly mellow, but good)

Haste the Day - Pressure the Hinges (did I mention I love this genre called Metal-core?  Haha, well these guys are another fine example of it, much like Killswitch Engage and Atreyu)

Hellyeah - Hellyeah (a side project featuring the singer and guitarist from Mudvayne, the guitarist and bassist from Nothingface, and Vinnie Paul, the drummer from Pantera.  It's really good, features some good southern rockish metal, groove oriented, much like Pantera).
