I'm sitting at my desk, working away (well, trying to work) and the COO comes by and asks if I like basketball. Now, he knows I love sports and hears me talk to my boss about football and NASCAR all the time. Don is so nice so I had to reply that, well, basketball doesn't do that much for me. But he had two tickets to the Hawks game Friday night. I said "weeellllll..... how much do they cost?" He said they were free. Then he dropped the bomb. Center court, four rows back. Free parking. I had to take them. I had to. Atlanta Friday night traffic and all.
He hands me the tickets and I try not to get very excited. These puppies are $100 each!!!! For the Hawks!!! It's against Sacremento. But it's Friday night and the Atlanta glitz comes out for these games. You better believe my camera is going with me.
I better do some homework tonight to become a little more basketball educated. I feel like royalty or something.

Damn, those are some nice seats. I'm not much of a basketball fan, but I sure as heck wouldn't have turned those tickets down.

I'm hoping to see Whitney and Bobby in the audience. The NBA doesn't seem to be about the game anymore. It's about the "experience". Go out to philipsarena.com and look at the seating chart for the Hawks. We're in section 115, row D. Right behind the floor people. In between the benches.
Have to brush up on my gangsta speak.

You really think we'd throw something on the court? No, we'll be the ones taking all the empty plastic cups home with us because this will be the only Hawks game we ever go to.
Have to start saying "word up" or is that so last century now?

We are the whitest white people on the planet. I think "homey don't play that" is as far as we go. I promise everyone we won't embarrass ourselves. I reserve that to hockey games when I pick a fight. Or after a Falcons game when the car won't start. I leave the Braves games to RichN's side of the family. Always a story there.

I've been to one pro basketball game in my life: Washington Bullets (yes, before they were the Wizards) vs. Philadelphia 76ers.

I think that last basketball game I ever went to was the state championship game that West won senior year. I never went to a Clemson basketball (or baseball, for that matter) game.
