Man, can't believe I didn't know about this until now. The Venaculas have been signed to a national label. It's small but at least it's a start. It's called Random Records and they're working on an album to be released nationwide. Here's the actual press release from Random Records' site:

11-04-2005: Random Records, Inc Los Angeles announced today the official signing of Venaculas. A superior and impressive rock band from Omaha Nebraska, Venaculas has established one of the most extensive followings ever brought to Random Records at such an early stage of their career. The Band has separated its self from the rest of pack with outstanding musicianship, high-energy performances and chemistry that usually takes years to obtain. ?We were immediately drawn to this band?, stated Kurt Hilgart, President of Random Records, Inc. ?From the moment we heard the demo and reviewed the live performance, we all knew we wanted this group on our label?. ?The future is very promising for this young band and we expect great things?. This is how it all came together. There was an early practice session that Phil was late for so the guys had Dave sit in on the drums. As they were jamming to a heavy beat, Phil arrived, picked up a cheap mic that was plugged into an even cheaper amp. Without missing a beat he laid down an intense, rhythmic and loud vocal styling that caught everyone by surprise and meshed well with the other band member's styles. After the 10-minute jam session they stopped, looked at each other, and said, "we may have something here."

Oh, for those who didn't know, Davey is the drummer for the Venaculas now after his dad stepped down.

Wowee Zowee.  Awesome on them.  They're good, but I don't know that I ever thought it'd get big enough.

That's pretty sweet, indeed. It'll be cool if they get national attention someday and we can be like "Hey, we knew those guys"

She was talking to Davey on the phone and I told him she was in dance so she could be in a music video. Yes, I actually managed to get a hold of him. He said he's going to try to get Venaculas to do a concert in Toledo or in a city nearby.
