Repeated head trauma can cause brain damage

« on: Jan 27, 2006, 09:18 AM »

My laptop power adapter bit the dust today Sad The wire where the power brick connects to the cord that connects to the laptop itself started to fray today and I noticed a bit of smoke coming from the wires. Three phones calls, no more warranty - and no extended warranty that I thought I had with my credit card, either! - $81, 2 business days, to get a new power adapter. Unfrickinbelievable.

I guess, really, it's just an inconvenience, since I have a perfectly fine desktop that I can use for AIM, browsing, music, Photoshop, etc. I'm a man of convenience and habit and I'm in the habit of sitting in my recliner watching TV and surfing the intarweb on my laptop. I've got a bit over an hour of battery life without heavy hard drive access and I'm going to want to copy some stuff from the laptop to my desktop for use over the weekend and Monday until the cord gets here Tuesday. Gonna have to work fast. Sounds like a good time to reattach the cord so to speak and connect this bad boy up with cat5 to get as much stuff as I can off it. Oi.

k, rant over. I'll probably rant some more later, though Smiley

I didn't even bother getting a(n extended) warranty for my laptop.  Nothing ever breaks until it's expired anyway.  Ever notice how that always seems to conveniently happen?

I swear, companies have expiration dates down to a science.  So much so that things will go bad the very day they've expired.

I was under the impression that my warranty was still valid, though. When I bought the laptop, it came with a one-year warranty, which I extended to two years. Well, they told me my credit card doubles the warranty, so silly me, I thought that meant a total of four years. They neglected to tell me that it only doubles one-year wararanties. What kind of crap is that?
