I ordered something the other day and I'm having it shipped to the office, on the island. Keep this important fact in mind. It's on Hiton Head. I go to look at the tracking number this morning and lo and behold, it's out for delivery. FROM WEST COLUMBIA! Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. I know some poor soul isn't going to drive a delivery route from West Columbia to HHI, so what gives? If they're somehow delivering it to my parents' even though the shipping location is here, I guess that's cool. Or if out for delivery means that they'll get it here today via some wacky UPS thing I don't know about, that's cool, too. But really... it just looks weird on the tracking.

Oi. I'm a total nob. I just checked my tracking number and it said that there was an address error and they couldn't deliver the package to the specified address. I looked through the address on my receipt and everything was correct until the last 5 characters. The damn zip code. I put in 29228 instead of 29928, which means it ended up in Columbia instead of Hilton Head. Curses! I'm going to try to either pick it up at the Columbia location tomorrow or have them deliver it Friday or Saturday to my parents' house.
*sigh* gg self.

W00T!!! I just talked to the nicest lady at the West Columbia office and they're going to re-route the package to my parents' house and deliver it tomorrow. Super!

Shipping offices are really great with that kind of stuff. As long as you call and let them know what you want, they can do whatever. That tracking number is like Charlie getting the golden sleeve in the chocolate bar. It's magical.

Yeah, I was really surprised at how easy they were to deal with. I just gave the corporate guy my tracking number and phone number and he put in an urgent message to the West Columbia location and they called me about an hour later. I explained the situation and my screw-up to her and she said that I could either pick it up tonight (unfortunately not possible since they'll close before I can get there) or they can put it on a truck tomorrow and deliver to my parents' house.
I'm glad it worked out, too, especially with a company as huge as UPS. I guess they have the resources and planning to handle situations like this and make things as easy as possible for everyone. Very cool.

Hehe - and then you have McDonald's with their blearied eyed staff who can't even figure out how to get fries, a cheeseburger and a Happer Meal toy into a bag and shove it across the counter. They don't even have to do the soft drinks anymore either but they seem to screw up the "oh, you wanted a CUP with that?" stuff.

Doh. So it's 11am and it's not "Out for Delivery" today. Kinda sucks. Was hoping to have it today.  I guess I'm getting what I deserve for putting the wrong damn zip code in, though, eh? |

WOOHOO! It came! Even though it never said that it was out for delivery. The friendly neighborhood UPS man brought it by about an hour ago. My brother and I have been playing Bomberman for the past hour so I've not had a chance to hook it up to my laptop and see how it works. Got some work to do on planning out my key and moue mappings for BF2. Oughta be able to own some kids with all these buttons. Mmmm.

you know... you started this thread on yer thing which was goin to the wrong zipcode, but didnt say what the thing is... all i see is buttons or something. is it a specialized gamin keyboard? I know they put out one especially for BF2 that had all sorts of nifty stuff.

Heh, my bad. No, it's the Logitech MX3100. Link here. It's not a specialized gaming keyboard, no. But it's got so much functionality that it's going to be awesome for gaming. |
