Repeated head trauma can cause brain damage

« on: Nov 29, 2005, 05:29 PM »

In an interview today, the president of the Peach Bowl - or someone else running the show, anyway - told Clemson fans to stop sending faxes asking the Peach Bowl to take Clemson as its ACC representative in this year's game. Apparently, we burned up all their fax machines and flooded their phone lines and inboxes with so much pro-Clemson stuff that we're preventing them from doing business. Bwahahaha. Don't ever say Clemson fans don't back our program.

Hey John - if Clemson goes to the Peach Bowl, you've got a place to stay here.  Hell, just come down for the tailgating.

Come down? Atlanta is north of here Tongue

I don't think we're gonna get the Peach, though. I think they're looking hard at the chickens for the SEC team and they said today that the game will not be a rival game like us and the chickens or UGA/GT. Our only chance to get it is if they don't take USC and take us over FSU (if they don't win the ACC), BC, and GT. It's a long shot.

This year, it may actually work. Assuming that both Southern Cal and Texas don't lose, there will be 2 undefeated teams with a clear national champion to result from the winner. Should one or heaven forbid both of them lose, there will be 6 or 7 teams with one loss, all clamoring for the one or two open spots in the title game. That would be bad. But if both of them win out, the BCS will actually do its job. For once. Okay, maybe twice.

That may be so, but out of how many times has it actually worked out? It's just one of those coincidence things.

And, man, I just noticed something... this forum is dominated by orange...

Oh, no, I definitely agree. I'm not some blind fool supporting the BCS or anything. I was just making the point that if these last couple games wind up with USC and Texas undefeated, it will work this year. The problem is that there's no playoff system. There really just has to be a playoff to get rid of the controversy that's surrounded college football for a long time.

Close enough, yeah. Better orange than the puke orange of Tennessee, that's for sure.
