No Prison Break until MARCH?! Good lord Fox, what are you doing? All of this because of stupid American Idol. They should have moved Prison break to 8:00 pm on Mondays, right in front of 24. Now that would be the coolest Monday night ever.
And, yes, I hold Prison Break to the same high level as 24.

I agree, they should definitely just move it instead of waiting four months to show more episodes. If they don't start again until March, we're going to get what, like 10 episodes before they end again in May? They better at least give us another 13.
I don't put Prison Break quite on the same level as 24, but Lost is there, and maybe higher than 24.

I don't watch Lost so that's not a conflict for me.

Yeah, that's one I've been pondering for a while now. Lost is always doing something to blow my mind and there's so much to read about and so many Easter eggs to discover.

You guys should be happy Prison Break is even coming back in March. Last I heard, it was going on indefinite hiatus since the ratings weren't what Fox expected. They were going to hold off and just show four episodes in May and then re-evaluate. So March through the end of the season is pretty darn good.
Lost is the best TV show out there. I've never followed 24 so I can't compare. But Lost is the one show I simply cannot miss every week. Gotta figure out how to watch that on the cruise ship in a couple of weeks. We get ABC (Disney owned, of course) so I'll be the one heading in the opposite direction of everyone else to return to my stateroom at 8:00 or 9:00 or whatever time it comes on in the Caribbean. Everything else can wait until I get back.
And elmono freaked out his grandparents when a 24 preview came on and he literally went out of the room screaming.

If it went on indefinate hiatus, a lot of people would be angry. I hate the Nielsen ratings. They do not give an accurate reading of what people watch, especially with the introduction of DVR and downloading TV shows off the internet. So they need to come up with a different way.
Fox needs to give Prison Break a chance. After the first season of 24, it was in danger of being canceled. Then they released the first season on DVD just before the second season aired and a ton of people got hooked. They should follow the same strategy with Prison Break.

I'm definitely glad it's coming back. I guess you could say relieved, even. I was a bit skeptical of the show from the very beginning, cuz really, how long can a TV show go on about guys escaping from a prison? But I guess it's fair to say that the same could be said for Lost - how long can you make a show about people on an island? Gilligan's Island lasted several years, though, so I suppose anything's possible. Lost has a much larger cast than Gilligan's Island and they have the flashbacks in every episode, but still.
And getting back to the original topic, this really is just another brick in the wall of Fox giving shows the shaft before letting them pick up steam. It seems like every year they can several good things, just because they don't have the same giant ratings of CSI or Desperate Housewives or something. Hello? Fox executives? There is such a thing as a niche market. And it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Then there was this show about nothing. Didn't do well when initially released. Changed a few things, NBC let it ride for a half season - in the spring - and nine years later, Seinfeld went off the air. Friends had nothing going for it except Courtney Cox (yes, SHE was the name on the show because of Family Ties and the Bruce Springsteen video). That lasted ten years. JAG just ended after ten years and being cancelled by NBC - CBS picked it up and now is really having the last laugh with NCIS.
I agree about the Nielsens too. Look at us on Wednesday nights at 10:00. We watch Invasion (because you have to keep up with it), tape CSI:NY and Law & Order. We eventually watch them all. But the Nielsens would only count Invasion. Or what about PIPing sporting events? Going between two football games or a NASCAR race?
I haven't gotten into Prison Break since the first episode I was otherwise occupied. RichN watches it, though. If they show it on reruns this summer, I might watch it.

Expect FX to rerun all of the Prison Break episodes before it returns in March. Also expect FX to show a marathon for Prison Break during the summer if they continue it for a second season.

FOX really does suck. They've cancelled Reunion and are trying to figure out how to end the show in six episodes. Either end it with the 1998 ep or make each ep cover a few years at the end.
Stupid FOX...
