This one goes to the nation's best defensive back. Just the second time in Clemson history that two players have been named as finalists for postseason awards. Go, Tye!

I know this is old but I'll bet you can't guess who came up with the idea of the Jim Thorpe Award for the best defensive back without looking Smiley

I don't know, no. I'm going to hazard a guess and say someone from Oklahoma, though. Barry Switzer?

No sir.... Although he is a good friend of this person he is not the responsible party.  Yes this person is from Oklahoma just as Barry Switzer is but Barry Switzer is not part of the Jim Thorpe Association and did not come up with the idea of the Award.

I will also share that Barry Switzer recieved the Lifetime Achievement Award from JTA 2 years after the person I am speaking of recieved it.  I had the pleasure of being present at that banquet and awards ceromony in which I think it was Terence Newman from Kansas State University that was recieving the Jim Thorpe Award (2002)

Ahhh the force is with you my young apprentice.  That is correct and I have some more really cool info I would like to share with you being the sports fanatic I think you are but I am a tad sauced atm.

I will tell you that there is not a man I know of that is more connected with sports on a high school, college or pro level in ALL sports, that is more dedicated to the achievements of true sportsmanship along with many other academics.

This guy has so much signed memorabilia from so many famous sports figures in so many different sports, he could be a millionaire

You should see the beginning phases of the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.  A $6 million dollar project that not only represents Oklahomans in ALL sports but Olympic medalists and many other sports figures across the globe.

I would get a kick outta giving you a tour of the museum.

Okay... Im'a shut up before I divulge the fact that this fine person has most likely shook hands with your favorite sports figure.

I'll leave it to you to figure out just who W. Lynne Draper is Smiley

It's ok Super, I cheated too...  I only know all this because the Executive Director, President and CEO of the Jim Thorpe Association is my father LOL

If you really like sports though the museum will amaze you.

 Shocked Shocked Shocked

Really?

I'm not such a huge sports fanatic, but I do like college football. And really anything Clemson. It could be a game of left-handed tiddlywinks and I may not go to the game but I'll at least care about who wins Tongue

If we win, I will make mention of it. If we lose... well, call the police and inform them of the suicide watch.
