I agree with the Astros. It's their home field advantage. Heck, it's their stadium. That's why each stadium has its own ground rules. Like they said, they had to play in Chicago, where it's windy and cold. The White Sox are used to it. The Astros should be allowed to play with the dome closed. They're used to that. Hopefully it'll rain in Houston today to shut the MLB up about it.

Yeah, I don't understand the point of home field advantage then...stupid commissioners.

That's like the officials penalizing us at a football game for being too loud. Seriously. It happened. Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

They mentioned the Metrodome in that article. I went to a Twins game there once. Of course, this was when the Twins stank so it wasn't that full but it was still very very loud in there.

I can tell you this from lots of experience this year.  Being in an enclosed dome for a sporting event IS home field advantage.  The Falcons fans have rattled the opposition all year long just by being extremely loud.  Had a turnover last night because of it, had the Jets have to call a time out because of it.  The fans know they can cause a lot of ruckus just by being loud in an enclosed environment.

But then again, ever hear about the time the Phillie fans were successful in booing a pitcher off the mound during a playoff game?  I think it was in 1978 or somewhere around there.  Burt Hooten (hooooooooot, hoooooooot, hooooooooot), could not handle the noise at Vet Stadium (outside) and basically broke down.  It was amazing to watch on TV.  I think he almost was in tears.  The more he screwed up, the louder the fans got.  Ah, those Phillie fans, they even booed Santa Claus once.  Gotta love 'em.

I'd be willing to bet that at the Peach Bowl a couple years ago when we played Tennessee that it was easiily one of the loudest games that has ever been at the Georgia Dome. I remember reading that the crowd at that game was the largest that was ever at the Dome, including the 5 (I think?) Super Bowls that have been held there. And most of the crowd was Clemson and we're just crazy and loud Smiley

And the Dome will be rocking this year.  Back to back to back.  December 31 - Peach Bowl.  January 1 - Falcons last game.  January 2 - Sugar Bowl (moved from New Orleans).  Too bad they banned the homeless from begging in the parking lots.  They would have gotten enough food and drink to last the entire 2006.

Yup, I saw that they'd moved the Sugar Bowl from the Superdome to the Georgia Dome this year. Gonna be a crazy three days of football in Atlanta.

The problem with back-to-back big games, is that they don't clean the job jonnies out between them.  Makes for some gross stuff by even game 2, let alone a 3rd game.

The Astros ended up losing. Was it because the roof was open?

So, did the roof being open cause the Astros to lose the World Series? Nice to see the White Sox win but I wouldn't have mind if the Astros won in their first World Series.

That's two sweeps of the NL in a row.  Makes you wonder about that league.  We could start inferring that it's because they don't use the DH.  Yeah, that's the ticket.

I don't see that as an excuse. Last year, Boston was on a streak and had something to prove. This year, Chicago was actually the better team. If St. Louis had made the World Series, then it would have been a whole different story. The two best teams in baseball (as far as their records go) going against each other
