Call us crazy, call us dopes, call us usually responsible adults, but RichN and I will be at the freaking Georgia Dome for the Monday Night Football opener of the Eagles against the Falcons.  Yeah, it's because we are season ticket holders but the Falcons have not one, not two, but THREE MNF games this year.  We are stupidly insane (we will miss one because will be cruising in the Caribbean that week).

Trick #1 - how to get RichN to the airport on Tuesday morning to fly out to lovely Turlock, CA and how to get me to work Tuesday morning after the Monday Night game?  Simple - get a hotel room 45 minutes south of where we live but much closer to both places we need to be for the next morning.  Cost $45.  Extra couple hours of sleep - priceless.

Trick #2 - how the hell to get to downtown Atlanta during rush hour traffic on a Monday evening?  Simple - have one of your tailgating buddies work near downtown and have his office have free parking.  All meet and take one vehicle to the game.

Trick #3 - how to convince your very new boss (three weeks into the job) that you need to leave work early?  Simple - he's a Falcon fan.  3:00 Monday afternoon, I'm gone.

Trick #4 - how am I going to root for both the Falcons and the Eagles?  Simple - wear the Falcons T-shirt and hat in the gravel pit for tailgating since I don't really want to get killed.  And then take my Eagles sweatshirt into the game for later.  BTW - the gravel pit is our name for the parking lot we choose.  We like it and tend to ignore what we hope are chicken bones scattered around.  Also, the Job Johnnies are "no way, Jose" after the first hour of the lot opening.  Guys have it easy since there are walls to use.  The women cross their legs and wait until entering the Dome.

So - watch MNF and try to spot us.  We're in the upper level but right at the 50 yard line and on the Falcons side.  Excellent seats.

I'll post on Tuesday night if we survive.

I think those two replies say a hell of a lot for elmono's and vengeance's relationship.  Reminds me of another couple......

It's Tuesday, I think.  At work and going on almost four hours of sleep.  We did survive MNF.  How, I don't know.  Last minute panic from a certain tailgating buddy who was convinced downtown Atlanta would be gridlock by 3:00.  RichN and I were at the hotel in plenty of time.  Helped that my boss was on jury duty and the president of the company is a HUGE Falcon fan and told me to relax and have a great time and not to worry about anything.  We were all in the Gravel Pit shortly after 4:00.

By 4:30, I had the Eagles sweatshirt out.  I was a duel fan.  For the rest of the night.  What agony.  It was a great, great game.  Much lower scoring than I thought but the results were what I expected.  The Georgia Dome was the loudest we have EVER heard it.  Got to the point where it hurt my ears.  Even RichN was getting into it.  I remained an impartial party and kept my big mouth shut for both teams.  Total pain for four hours.

Back to the hotel by 2:00 AM and into work by 8:15.  RichN made it to the airport on time so that decision was great.  Another six weeks and we'll need to do this again.  UGH!

There was one "incident".  RichN had to "buy" a woman a beer since she didn't have her ID.  Attractive woman.  A woman that didn't know I existed until I showed up with my drink from another vendor.  Then she saw my opposing "colors".  Eagles AND Falcons.  Then she kissed me.  Yes, it was a night to remember.

Sounds like a fun and raucous time. Football's good stuff. I remember going to the Peach Bowl there a couple years ago. That game holds the record for most attendance at the Georgia Dome, as far as I know.

awesome stuff.  The game was interesting to say the least, though I got tired of hearing Stu Scott goin on about the scuffle before the game.  It was like watching a tragedy or something, the way they just kept reshowing the clip over and over again, and im like, whoopdedoo, two players got thrown out, yeah one of them shouldnt have, but oh well, get over it.  What I saw of the game before I went to work was fun though, lots of competitiveness.

The funny thing was for all of us at the Dome, it was kinda like WTF?  Why are all those players in the middle of the field?  It really was a non-incident live.  Didn't realize it was such a big deal until this morning when the office people were talking about it.

Yells going outside the Dome after the game ------

EAGLES SUCK!  EAGLES SUCK! (I kept my sweatshirt around my waist very proudly but was glad I had that Falcons T shirt on)

T.O. ASSHOLE, T.O. ASSHOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say, though - the Philly fans (and there were a lot of us/them), didn't duck and run.  It was a great match-up.  Philly fans may boo Mike Schmidt enough that he resorts to a disguise when taking the infield and the Philly fans may drop Santa Claus off the top level (yes, they did), but they don't make excuses.

The Eagles will fly again this year.  Sometime.  Just not against a Falcon.

An attractive woman kissed you and RichN was able to walk back to his seat? That right there is the real story.  Wink

Thought I might get some of that menage-a-tois action going, but no, all she wanted was a beer.  Sigh.
