This is probably one of the best books by Tom Clancy I have ever read.  I'm a little over halfway through it and I'm just riveted.  He goes back in time to 1983 (I know because he refers to the Orioles meeting the Phillies in the World Series - grr!) and the Pope's shooting.  Right before the Cold War ended, right before Poland became free.  He leads up to all that stuff.  RichN isn't one for novels but I think he'll love this one.

Of course, most of you all were still ankle biters, carpet crawlers, or thoughts in your parents' minds when all this stuff happened.

Pretty sure I'm the youngest regular poster here and I was just 1 then. 3 months younger than Chris.

At any rate, it sounds good. I had planned on reading as many of the Tom Clancy books as I could, but before I was able to, I ended up getting my job and the books are at my parents' house Sad

I was 2.  But Cold War intrique is much better in my opinion than today's Terrorist intrigue, since the Cold War is now over.  So I'd probably like it.
