Who would you like to see as the next James Bond?
In case if you're wondering who some of these guys are, Ioan Gruffudd is the producer's #1 choice at the moment. He's playing Mr. Fantastic in The Fantastic Four, coming out next year. Clive Owen played Arthur in King Arthur. Everyone should know who Ewan McGregor, Jude Law, and Hugh Jackman are.

That's a really tough one... I think Hugh Jackman may have some of the best mannerisms for it, but I don't really think that's his style... I don't really see him as that kinda of a smooth operator.
Jude is kinda the same way, could definitely pull it off, but I don't see it happening. Just from the look of it, Ioan has the billing (and birthplace) to steal the role. It could go any which way though...

I'm not really sure, but I chose Ewan. He needs something to balance out the popularity of Star Wars and he would bring more of a Roger Moore quality back to the role.
Extra points for being the one that Sean Connery named as the choice to play Bond.

Wow, that's a hard choice. I think I'd go with Gruffudd or Jackman. Either of them would probably be okay.
Any idea when an official announcement might be made as to who's next?

None so far. Oh, you want to hear the two stupidest rumored actors to play Bond?
First, Colin Salmon. He's the black MI6 guy who was in Tomorrow Never Dies and Die Another Day. The rumor started when he signed a photo "Colin Salmon, 007." So someone took that way out of context from a guy who signed that just because he's in Bond movies
The other one, and the stupidest one of them all, was Nicolas Cage. Yes, you heard me. Nicolas Cage. I don't know why this guy is rumored for every single role out there. I remember when he was going to play Superman... *shudder*

you know, last i heard, dougray scott was up for the role in the next movie. he was the villain in mission impossible 2. since all i really remember him in is evil roles, im not sure i'd go for this. I did hear that Pierce wanted him though, and hes a decent actor. Definitely a polished look going on. My personal choice for Bond, which this is merely an opinion, would be for Sean Bean. THough blonde, hes one of the coolest, most badass dude from Sheffield i know. I've never seen a TV show or movie with him in it that wasn't coo, and i think he would bring some of the rough edge that Connery had. THough Connery was smoov, you could tell he had that rough and tumble past as a truck driver. The ONLY problem i see, besides bean being blonde, is that he was the villain in Golden Eye. Bastards!!

Yeah, that would be a big problem with Sean Bean... and he's one of the more popular Bond villains. But I like Sean Bean, he's one of my favorite actors... but he seems to be always playing the bad guy...

Late 2006. It'll focus more on a story than the big action spectacle the last few Bonds have turned into

Good to hear. I've been kind of disappointed with the last few movies. Brosnan's a great Bond but of his movies, I really only put GoldenEye up there with the older movies.

I don't think I've seen TWINE more than once or twice total. I don't know why. I think I saw it in the theater and then once more on DVD. I don't really remember much of it.

My rank of Brosnan Bonds: GoldenEye, The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Tomorrow Never Dies... and they all rank above crap like Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker

I don't think Dalton was horrible, he was never given the chance to grow into the role.
BTW, my favorite Bond movie is On Her Majesty's Secret Service with good ole George Lazenby

ack again! good book, bad (or at least not as good) movie. its amazing how much they changed the books when they did the movies. but then again thats true for most adaptations, though bond may be one of the earliest i can think of, where they werent true to what was in the books. some of the movies were way better than the books were though, so who knows. I guess Ian Fleming was just as hit and miss as the movies.

People need to separate the books from the movies when it comes to Bond, especially since many of the movies only use the titles from the books and uses plot points from numerous different novels. In For Your Eyes Only, the scene with Bond and Havelock being dragged from the boat is actually from Live and Let Die, for example. In Licence to Kill, Felix Leiter getting eaten by the shark is also from Live and Let Die. So the movies may have the same name as the novels, but many of them just use the title and have nothing to do with the novel.

I wish I had all 20. I was never able to find Octopussy back when we were trying to get them all. And now that I finally have Die Another Day, I'm back to having all of them except Octopussy again. :-(
