RichN is probably close to a 12 pack a day in Diet Coke. Especially on driving trips (like to Dizzy World). His breakfast is at least two Diet Cokes and then he goes on from there. At least I've got him on bottled water for a change at work.
Me personally, I've been off caffeine for about eight years. I used to guzzle the real Coke. Then I quit. That's like having a smoker quit. And ever try finding a non caffeine drink at a fast food place that's not a 7-Up or Sprite? Almost impossible.

I drink a couple 2-liters of regular soda every week at home, but I take Diet Dr. Peppers to work. Not quite the same as the regular stuff, but it's good enough.

Kidney stones? Figures. I've been having the worst pains right in the kidneys and elmono and I really are wondering what's up with them? I'm not 'passing' anything, though.
I think I need to cut down(although I'm not drinking 12 a day) and maybe switch to something else.

I don't really know enough about the female anatomy, I guess, but I don't think passing a kidney stone for a woman is anything like it is for a man. I assume that woman can get them (I've only ever heard of men having them, though), but the way they exit the body is much less... convenient... for a man than it is for a woman, to my knowledge.

That's because it's a longer trip for the man. It's just as painful for a woman, but it's out so much sooner and it doesn't have to travel down something very sensitive for more than a tiny bit.
From what I've heard I'd rather have a baby. At least you can be happy when it's over. Then again, remember the episode of Friends when Phoebe went into labor and Joey passed his stones? That was awesome.

yupyup. the problem with soda is the phosphoric acid, it builds up into little bits of hardened phosphates. The same can happen with the calcium in milk. In fact, its more likely to get calcium deposits than phosphate. But any soda with phosphate in it (which to my knowledge, diet does too) could possibly lead there. now granted if your body is used to 12 packs of soda a day, no big worry. I went from the strict rules of my house (maybe a soda a day) to free reign in college where i quit drinking milk altogether and opted only for juice and TONS of soda. When I did start drinking milk again a couple of years later, I found out I became lactose intolerant. Very odd, considering how much milk I used to drink. Vengeance, if they are kidney stones, you'll feel em in your kidneys for about 3 days or so, and then the pressures pretty much gone until right before you actually pass them. at which point, where they pass out of kills you for about a day. If you THINK you might have stones, start drinking TONS of water. the more water you drink, the more your body has to process and flush, and gets those things out a lot quicker!

Maybe it's not stones then. Hmmm. I've been having pains for over a year. It's pretty bad. Maybe I should just start drinking water a lot and see if that helps. I'm guessing that it's just hurting my system.

Dang, even I don't drink a 12 pack a day. Depending on the weather, I probably drink between 2 to 6 Cokes a day.

when i worked in ER years ago, had men AND women who came in with kidney stones. the women said it hurt WORSE than having a baby-------so our only recourse seems to be watching the men pass kidney stones-----just tell them to RELAX!

That's mean. hehehe
I'm not the only one drinking Coke, though. Chris is usually happier with a substitute than I am.
I'm seriously needing to switch to something else although the bout of food poisoning last night made me just want coke even more.

I let them gather at my desk for awhile then take them out to the recycling bin enmasse. It's a lot easier that way Your daughter is the one leaving half empty and completely full cans all over the place.
