Okay, trivia time. Here's how it works. I'll start it off by asking the first question. Then whoever answers it asks a new question. Whoever answers that one asks the next question and so forth. Try not to make the question so obscure no one but yourself knows it. Only music trivia here. I'll start it off with an easy one.

Who is the only rapper to have won an Academy Award for Best Song?

Knowing you and knowing how big One was in '88, I'm going to guess Metallica, but I don't really have any certainty in that. Until I know if I'm right, I'll hold off on thinking up another question.

Yup, Metallica won the Grammy in 89, though they didn't release anything.  Many think it was to make up for the blunder of putting a song with flute solos as Metal in 88.

What was the first CD released to the public (1982 was the first)?

What was the first CD released to the public (1982 was the first)?

Billy Joel's "52nd Street"

What was 311's first ever album called (including their original Omaha releases)?

Nope. I don't even know what in the world that was since they were never signed with Warner Bros. in 1992.

According to their website, their first three albums which were released on their own label were "dammit", "Hydroponic", and "Unity" though this may have been when they were still called Unity instead of 311...

Alright, this next question would work in movies or music, but i decided to stick it here.  Who was known for writing the scores to such movies "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", "Once Upon a Time in the West", "A Fistful of Dollars" and "For a Few Dollars More"?  3 of these are Clint Eastwood westerns and 3 of my fave movies, especially because of the soundtracks.
