I think if it was me, I'd do a half-season, full season, and then lifetime ban for first, second, and third offenses.

According to ESPN, the reason Selig is coming out with these penalties is because if he doesn't, Congress will do worse.  The players say that they would like the current policy to be in effect a little longer to determine if the abuse goes down or not.  Then they would favor bigger penalties if the current policy doesn't take any bite outta of da crime.

Anybody see where Congress is now looking at the NFL and their drug use policies?

Why should they have jurisdiction over a Canadian sport?  Only one Canadian team in baseball, so I guess they'd just have to conform.  But, should a Canadian team be bound by some silly ruling the US Congress makes?
