If disnut enjoyed examining bones, sniffing out decomp, and pulling drying flesh away to check out great maggot spreads then the books by Kathy Reichs would read like her trip reports for a case.

I just finished Fatal Voyage and I constantly think of my MIL while I read her books. And I mean all the time. We all get people in our heads when we're reading a book. Usually they're just conjurings of our imaginations, and mine still are...except for the character of Tempe Brennan. I see disnut everytime the scene plays out in my head.

Of course...there are the love scenes and at that point...I try to distance myself. Even the character of her husband, Pete...all I can think of is my FIL. Weirdness. Someone else needs to read these books and tell me what they think.  Smiley

I'm not sure I should be flattered or scared.  I'll pick up the book next week after I finish the ones I'm reading now.

OK - I got three Kathy Reichs books last week.  I'm reading Bare Bones right now.  I like the writing style although I could do without the foreshadowing at the end of every chapter.

At first, I didn't understand Vengeance's claim that I remind her of the main character.  Until I got deeper into the book.  This lady does not put up with bullshit from anyone.  She might not express her opinion openly but she does think some people are assholes.  Yeah, I can see myself in Tempe Brennan.

The relationship between Tempe and Ryan is a lot like mine and Rich's.  We're sarcastic with each other but at the end of the day, we're happy together (maybe).  And the way the damn dog takes to Ryan is enough to convince me there's a heck of a lot of Rich in that character.

Haven't finished the book yet but the other two are calling my name.  Very good reading.

ACK! You're reading Bare Bones?Huh? Stop reading that right now, silly!

They have an order, you know....

1. Deja Dead
2. Death Du Jour
3. Deadly Decisions
4. Fatal Voyage
5. Grave Secrets
6. Bare Bones

They flow a lot better if you read one to the next because something carries over from each one before.

Okay, good luck finding the first one. If you need help, tell me, and I'll send you mine.

Of course the whole, "Hmmmm...should I pursue a relationship with Ryan?" mystery is lost on you for the first two. hehehehe

And Ryan as Rich? Hadn't thought of that. If you read them in order you'll see why I thought of Pete and Rich as very similar. Or maybe all three have a lot in common. Either way, you'll love the books.

Too late.  I'm reading them in the exact opposite order.  Almost done with Fatal Voyage.  Then on to Deja Dead.  Doesn't matter to me because eventually I'll have them all and go back and read them in order.
