About time. After several delays, Microsoft is finally about to release Forza Motorsport. I've been waiting for this game for several months now. It finally went gold yesterday or the day before with a scheduled release date of May 3rd. I can hardly contain my excitement, especially after reading an article at Popular Science last night where they had a professional driver and a longtime gamer play the game together and then compare the game to the real Road Atlanta course. I liked what I read in the article and now I'm anticipating the release of Forza even more. |

And I'm playing a loving Forza to death. I've probably put in at least 15 hours in the past 3 days playing. And I'm only about 12% done with career mode.
I've been spending a lot of time customizing cars and racing with my brother, though. I tried to build a sweet Aston Martin DB9, modeling it after a CG DBR9 over on dieselstation, but the game won't let me turbocharge it or supercharge it (!!!), nor can I add the spoiler and other nifty things to make it fast and sexy. I built a pretty damn good substitute, though, I think... built on the Toyota MR2 chassis, I've got all the best parts in it. It makes 525hp. Which isn't enormous. But consider the fact that it's an MR2. They weigh like 2200lbs. It's crazy. Top speed of over 180mph. Let's just say for now that it handles Road Atlanta like a friggin' champ. And once I get better at Nurburgring, I'm sure it will do just fine there. There's several places where I can open it up and let it fly at 170+.
In case it wasn't clear, I'm loving Forza. The wait was agonizing but it was worth every second. Forza is a thing of beauty. And it's great for sim racing on the whole because Polyphony Digital has been slacking on Gran Turismo by not adding damage or online play and Forza has both of those things. PD and MGS are going to have a great war on their hands for the sim racing crown once the PS3 and Xbox 360 get here, I think. Competition is a great thing.

Oh, damn... The best car I've created is a pretty decent replica of the Corvette C5-R. I don't think I have the talent to make something sweet like that. ImageShack is horribly slow right now so I can't open them up and see them, but I can see what it is from the thumbnails and they look hot.

I never did go back and get creative with the sides of the car. I spent a few hours over a weekend on the hood and then just threw some stripes on the side for the time being. Not sure what I should do to it, but I'll be playing a lot more Forza now that I've stopped playing Grand Theft Auto all the time.

The seal does look fantastic, though. Very nice job. Dunno if a Tiger Paw would look good on the sides, but it might be sweet. If nothing else, you oughta make another car that features the Tiger Paw.
