It's official.  The Georgia government has designated every October 8 as Bill Elliott Day.  For his contributions on and off the track.  Don't think we get the day off work but it's a wonderful tribute to a class guy.  Awesome Bill from Dawsonville.  Too bad they didn't make it closer to when AMS runs the race in late October.

I don't exactly know what the sprint cars do... are they like the dragsters?

Sprint cars are these things. With the strange-looking parts on top. They race on dirt tracks a lot, I believe.

Sprint cars are awesome!!!!!!!!

They completely fly in the air rolling over their top and they speed so fast around the muddy track. Its awesome lol. You def have to wear a cap so you dont get pieces of mud in your eyes or hair  Cool

Oh, yeah! Those! The big association here that races those is the World of Outlaws. Tony Stewart owns a team and races those himself

Big wreck. Engine blew and there were flames everywhere. I felt so bad for him. You could tell when he fell out of the car that he was hurting bad. I didn't hear about the foot. I heard that they were treating first degree burns on his right elbow and second degree on the back of his right thigh. But if it's his foot, too, then he might not be able to go the whole race next week. Just the thigh injury would be painful enough.

We didn't see it, just heard it on the radio.  I'm sure on TV, they didn't play it that much.

BTW - a HUGE thanks to elmono for the heads up on Kurt Busch today and for giving us the PRN stations along our trip back from MickeyWorld.  If I didn't know the reason why I had a kid before today, well, I do now.   Cheesy

And Kurt Busch ended up doing well...

Yeah, Stewart's car blowing up was pretty bad. There were enough flames that the commentators pointed out how it moved over the back of Stewart's car was how the air moved over the car... the tail end was a nice crispy black and you could see where the paint and decals bubbled up from the heat
