Yup, you heard me right. George Lucas is re-releasing the original Star Wars trilogy in 2007 (for its 30th anniversary) in 3D. That gets a big no from me. Nothing more than a gimmick. I really don't need to see the trilogy in cheap 3D.

Ya know, I used to like George Lucas. And I used to be a huge Star Wars fan. I'm still a fan of the franchise, but why the hell is Lucas doing this? Why does he insist on making changes to things that should just be left alone? Is the extra money he's going to make from it really worth tarnishing the Star Wars legacy even more?

He's not making any changes to the movies himself, he's just putting it in 3D. And you know it's going to be the newest versions of the films that were released on DVD.
I bet in 2009 he'll release the prequels in 3D to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the prequels

I'm sure he will. Release the prequels in 2009. Or maybe 2014 for 15 years. Or maybe both cuz he's a money-grubbing whore now.

He just knows that after Episode III comes out, he has to somehow keep Star Wars afloat since no more movies will come out. Of course, he had no problem keeping Star Wars afloat between the original trilogy and the prequels

Ya, I know. But it still sucks to see some of the crap that's been pushed out the past few years. I've not been a fan of Star Wars even 10 years and even I can remember the good stuff that came out. The novels, comic books, the CCG. All of that stuff was much better than anything that's come out since 1999.

The New Jedi Order came out in 1999. That series was sweet.

Is this going to be something that's shown in IMAX only? That would be awesome.

Seems to me like this stuff about Episode III being PG-13 is a marketing ploy. It's all over the news. Of course, I'm sure it really will be PG-13 but they don't have to make a big deal out of it
I bet Lucas would love to put Star Wars 3D on IMAX. It's a big money maker now. Releasing movies in IMAX has definately pulled the company from the brink of bankruptcy
