Chris wants to build me a new computer at some point. Should I let him? Will I regret it? I don't even know what I'd use. I do know I wouldn't mind checking out the Sims 3. Apparently my computer won't handle it right now.

If you're going to get a new computer, which seems more like a matter of when rather than "If", it makes sense to let him build it... you can either build the same PC you'd find on a shelf for cheaper or build a better rig for the same price you were planning to spend.

I suppose. He built his computer and seems to be happy with it. I want the big ass monitor, too, though. Wink

The priciest items would be the stuff that matters the most for gaming, of course. Sunk most of the money on mine into the video card, motherboard, and processor. But you can get away with a cheaper motherboard. I went a little pricier for it because of the more rigid construction but comparible motherboards can be cheaper. And I'm posting on here because I feel like making conversation.

And the big ass monitor will add another $200 or so.

Another vote for build it. I like knowing exactly what parts I'm putting in, etc. Plus if you're working on a tight budget, you can always monkey around at Newegg and swap different parts in and out easily to meet your budget. If you go to Dell or someplace, I expect it's more like, this is what there is and there's not a whole lot you can do about it.

Right now my computer is running a bit slowly and I'm kinda concerned, but hopefully things will improve. I'd love a faster computer, though, you know... so I can do important things like play games. Wink

Well, since we got surprise money for next semester, we can put some of that towards a new computer. Call it a late Christmas present.

I think we should put that money toward a deposit when we move.

Then I'll hear you continually bitch about your old, slow computer.
