Yes, that would be me.  The Greater American Fantasy Football League (GAFFL) 2008 Champion!

I've been in the league for 13 years, Rich for 15.  Rich has won the title twice (1994 and 1996) and now it's my turn.

I beat 15 other guys (we have a 16 team league, one of the biggest leagues you can have), all friends or near friends.  Our members have been all over the country and the world in the league's 16 year history and this will be the first time the trophy has moved south to Atlanta.  And it's an actual trophy, much like the Stanley Cup.  Each year, the winner's name gets added to it and it gets passed on to that person's home.

And the $400 doesn't hurt either.

Wow, you finally won something Wink Like I said before, I'm still going to pull off a Jimmie for fantasy NASCAR next year so don't think you'll win that as well.

I sort of remember when they first started the league. It was only a bunch of people who lived in the Omaha area. Eventually people started moving and it started spreading. Obviously most of the moving could be attributed to the military. I remember there was one point, while still living with the parental units in Bellevue, I considered joining their motley crew but the money factor probably ended that thought.

The league started in 1991 with eight people and has undergone many changes over the years.  The membership is such that you have to be sponsored by a current team in the league.

And yes elmono almost joined the league as well.  Back in 1997, we did a second expansion to twelve teams and he was on the short list.  Money wasn't the issue, it was the age.

That's all we would have needed in the family - fantasy football competition.  Bad enough with the NASCAR fantasy stuff!

PS - I also won Pro Bowl too.  Rich and I are in different divisions and my conference won (with the lineup supplied by me).  I am on such a roll!
