I just watched this movie for the first time.  I knew the ending (which if you don't know, I'm not telling) but what was fascinating to me was the depiction of how 1973 Earth thought 2022 Earth was going to be like.  Right now, New York City has 8+ million people.

I also liked the "going home" scenes.  Wish that were true today (such a political comment).

Never seen the movie but I know the end... and, come on, the movie is old enough it can be spoiled.

The last line of the movie.

But did you know that there was also Soylent Yellow and Soylent Red?  But those weren't people.  Soylent Green was supposed to be made of plankton but the oceans were just about gone and plankton was in short supply.  So they used humans instead.  The really gross part is the Green was so popular with the masses because it tasted better than the Red and Yellow.  Riots when they ran out of Green on a Tuesday.
