We might as well get this thread started now because I'm sure a lot can be said.

Hopefully we can stop saying 1:26 and 1:27 and start saying 1:24 and 1:25 today. I'll let you know. Oh, and we've got to start practice before midnight next time, haha. I look (and feel) like death this morning But it was worth every minute of practice last night, that's for sure.

La Colina raceway. A fictional track created for NASCAR 2003 that I've been working on perfecting. We were racing last night trying to get my times respectable.

I think it means The Hill. Which makes sense considering the layout of the track. There's a big hill coming out of the esses into the banked curve, then you hit the kink and it's a long downhill before the chicane. The Hill is a suitable name for the track.

I was just practicing for about half an hour and I was able to do a 1:26.054 I think it was. I've got a replay of the whole practice session saved, too, and I know what lap number the good lap was.
It wasn't until I went to turn on traction control, stability control, and ABS so my sister could drive that I realized they were already on and that whole time we were practicing last night, they were on.... I wonder if that may account for a few tenths of a second.

Eh, it could go either way. At first you are going to find that you are locking up the brakes way too much coming down the hill to the last hairpin. At the same time you will also find that the car wants to spin a lot more on the exits of the hairpins.
But once you get past those then you should get faster (although consistency may drop).

I was wondering about that while we were practicing but it didn't occur to me that I had the ABS turned on. I'd see your brakes lock up and mine not and I was wondering how that could be.
And definitely, one of my biggest problems yet is the exits of the hairpins. I'll try and get back on the throttle too much too soon and spin it. Sometimes I'll also come through 1/2 too fast and lose it going into the uphill hairpin. There's also the occasional loss of control through the kink if I go too fast. Problem there is that when I do make it through successfully, it always seems like I could have done it faster, but when I try and do it faster, I lose it and go flying up that hill on the left side. Argh.
