Oh... I would so stand firm and fight them on this.

"Customs Deputy Commissioner Jayson P. Ahern said the efforts 'do not infringe on Americans' privacy.'" Everyone knows that's a load of crock. I would say looking on someone's personal laptop is a violation of privacy. I own my electronics. I put personal information on it. AKA, it's private. This is getting ridiculous.

Wow, just when I thought it couldn't get any worse.  Even with this policy, there is no way in Hell that anybody is taking my laptop without a search warrant.  Especially for any extended amount of time.

Um, I just read this.  Let's see now.  Rich goes out of the United States with his company owned laptop.  With company information on it.  With a program on there where Rich changes and maintains PRICING for the entire company.  Sure, it's secure with a password but any decent hacker can get in.  And he gets this laptop taken.  Oh yeah, I can see his company letting that happen.

And what is worse is that Rich's Vice President frequently goes to China - yes CHINA for business trips to meet with vendors.  And he damn well sure takes HIS company laptop with him to keep in contact with the employees back home.  So does Rich's boss.  I can see James having his laptop taken away.  James is not the calmest person in the world.
