This kind of came out of the blue. He was the player back in the 90s. Sad to see him go.

He'll be eligible for the Hall of Fame in five years and I'm pretty sure he'll make it in, as a Dodger definately.

I don't know about that Dodger thing.  He mentions the Mets but not the Dodgers.

Piazza became a marquee player with the Dodgers and had his best years with them. I didn't realize he played for the Mets longer than with the Dodgers.

That surprised me too.  Eight years with the Mets.

But you are right - I didn't even really remember him as a Met but as a Dodger.  See what happens when players don't have their entire career with one team?  Makes this kind of stuff silly.

Playing with one team pretty much died with Ripken and Gwynn, although Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera have kept the tradition limping.
