John - just saw about some fires near Daytona and Cocoa and the shut down of I95. Everything OK down there with you?

I can see smoke from home and work. There's a fire a few miles south of here but the wind's blowing east and south so hopefully it doesn't come this way. We need some rain in a bad way.

Glad you are OK. As much as we need rain up here, hope you get some down there too. I hope a huge system comes through and stalls over the entire southeast for a week.
This is just a repeat of last year at the same time. Sigh.

Yeah, we need the rain badly down here. The best they're predicting for this week is like 20% on Friday night or Saturday. From what I've heard today, though, the fires are mostly contained. Hopefully that's true and they stay that way. The wind died down during the middle of the day and it's not blowing too terribly hard now, I don't think, so that's definitely good.

Please just watch it (geez, I sound like a mother. Oh wait, I am) since things can change very quickly.
I only found out about the fires because of the Disney boards. And those stupid ass people don't want rain on their precious vacations. To hell with them!

I think they've got them pretty well under control now. I don't think they're still quite home free just yet because it's so dry and it's still windy but roads were mostly open again today so the smoke wasn't as bad. The wind shifted and blew the fires back over where they'd already burned.

It take it you are OK through Fay? I heard Kennedy Space Center closed down today as well as Port Canaveral. Hey - go to Disney World - it's open and operating as normal.

Yeah, we're good from Fay. We were closed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesday because of the rain and wind, and then Wednesday and Thursday because of the flooding. My apartment's on the second floor and the drainage system in my apartment complex did its job. The water never even touched my tires. Didn't lose power or cable.
