Video

Have to give credit to NASCAR for the SAFER barriers and the new car. If not for those, McDowell would be either a vegetable or dead. And I have to give props to McDowell... the first thing out of his mouth about the wreck is he feels bad for his team that it happened.

EDIT: I found this picture to be humorous considering the dog on the hood of the car is giving a thumbs up.

That wreck was bad, bad, bad.  Usually I just watch the quals to have some background noise on and see who makes the pole.  It's not something I really pay attention to.  But when this happened, everything stopped for me.  I really thought McDowell was going to be injured or worse.  I've been following NASCAR for about five years now and this was the worst wreck I have ever seen.  I've seen guys roll before but never one that was this hard.

Rich was on his way home and I had to call him - it was that bad.  Elmono called me when he first saw it - it was that bad.

It took an hour and twelve minutes for them to repair the wall and clean up the track.  By that time, McDowell was out of the infield Care Center, had talked to the officials, and probably was back in the garage with his team to work on the backup car for today's practice.

I rolled my car three times.  McDowell rolled his eight times and was on his hood for quite a while.  I have a broken neck.  McDowell is totally unhurt except for some bruises.  I want a HANS device and SAFER barriers on the highways.

Stupid ESPN. They decided not to have the video anymore for some reason.

ESPN probably thought the driver died.  I'm sure it's on nascar.com somewhere.  They certainly showed it on Speed several times yesterday.  And it's probably on UTube or something.
