I know - what the hell is she doing on this forum?

This little program is a royal pain in the f***ing a$$.  If you are ever in the internet and start getting random internet windows opening without you doing anything, you have this piece of sh**.  You now have a prgram on your machine called Internet Speed Monitor.  It'll give you a nice message telling you that your performance is really slow and if you click here, it will fix it and speed things up for you.  Right.  It's an actual program that you will have to go in and remove.  That's the easy part.  Then you have to find all the hidden crap it's put on your machine from those internet windows.  I had two Trojan Horses on mine.  The last two weeks have been interesting.  The solution?  Reformat your drive.

And the interesting thing is that I got this thing right after the AT&T guy was here because our internet was out (not our fault).  He had to do some things on my machine - never touched Rich's - and this stuff started that same day.  Rich has been fine.  Too bad I can't prove he put the thing on the machine.  Lesson leanred - never let AT&T touch your PC ever.

I told you awhile ago you needed to format your hard drive. Actually, how about you just take both of your computers and drop them off a bridge and just get new ones? I hear so many problems about your guys' computers.

Well, before I had posted that message, we had formatted the hard drive.  After talking to John, we determined that what Rich did by reinstalling everything was formatting.  And AFTER I posted, I had problem again getting to the internet.  But I could use AIM.  But John told me that all my systems were good to go so there was no reason for me not to be able to get out there.  Until I tried something else.  I didn't use Internet Explorer.  I used MSN Explorer and now I'm abslolutely fine.  So my problem really wasn't the PC - it was Internet Explorer.  Well, at least I learned quite a bit about computers.

And we're not getting rid of these computers until they are dead, dead, dead and can't be bought back to life. Remember - we are the ones that are using VCRs to tape our shows.  Why get rid of something that still can work?

When they don't work well perhaps? No need keeping dinosaur computers when they're slow and don't even meet minimum requirements for most things.

Internet Explorer sucks:

Not the most factual, but it gets the point across.  Tongue

Well, we don't have the money for two new machines so we just have to make do.  Until we win the lottery.

Heh - both John and Chris highly recommended Firefox so that's what I have now.  Unfortunately, right now, I'm the Barbie version of Firefox.

And Chris - DAD IS ACTUALLY GOING TO USE FIREFOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firefox has a lot of advantages over IE, not just security. I like it for the ability to use extensions. There's a lot of good ones out there.
