I'm going to watch it on the DVR, Marlie and I were watching Terminator 2 while the show was on. And Marlie is now a fan of the Terminator series.

These are my thoughts.  I didn't want to post them before anyone else.  I have few shows that I would really hate to miss a week.  Desperate Housewives (come on - Eva Longoria in a cat fight?) and Lost.  Not into 24 at all (sorry).  This is one show that I could get hooked on.  I've been reading tonight's is better than last night.

Stick to your training and run John!!!!

with the writers strike, I'm glad they held off on 24 til all the episodes are done, hopefully this will be entertaining and fill the gap for a few weeks... i'm assuming the strike will affect this show too... hopefully the strike doesn't kill off some good shows.

I watched the first episode from last night tonight and will watch whatever aired tonight tomorrow after work. It was pretty enjoyable and I'll be watching the rest of it.

Rolando - go out to the Fox site.  I believe they were saying that you can get caught up with videos out there.  And I read an article that said this show was filming durin gthe strike as they had scripts for 11 episodes or so.

For those of you who have seen the second part (and without giving anything away to anyone who hasn't seen it yet), I thought Sarah's reaction to finding out what 9/11 meant was pretty "wow".

There, I watched both episodes. Gotta love me some naked Summer Glau Wink I'm still curious what model she is... and I wonder if she's complete with all the parts Wink

Did anybody notice (spoilered because John goes apeshit over the smallest things...)

Except the spoiler tags aren't working for some reason...

When John leaves the mall after the encounter with the laptop lady, the door he leaves says 1337?

I know there are alot of references that I missed because SOMEONE who was sitting on the couch next to me kept yapping WHEN THE CHARACTERS WERE TALKING!  Bastard couldn't wait until a friggin commercial.

Well John - don't read this one.....

What does the 1337 mean?

And we know that the model of Summer Glau is one that can eat.

1337 = leet = elite. Part of the internet fad of leetspeak

More spoilers

Originally, in the first Terminator movie, they were going to mention that the Terminator had to eat to maintain its human skin or else it would rot. There were some other interesting things in the show that would have been rendered moot if they had kept all the scenes in from Terminater 2 (available in the extended cut). Enrique was killed by the T-1000 in a cut scene from T2, which is how he found out the Connors had gone to Miles Dyson's house. Also, Miles Dyson has a daughter, shown in another cut scene of T2 when he was supposed to be taking his kids to Raging Waters or whatever it was. They also got the years mixed up. T2 took place in 1994. There was no way it could have taken place in 1997 as the show mentions (started in 1999, they mention they've been running for two years) considering Judgment Day happened in 1997. Of course, the specific years have been screwed up by the movies themselves since John Connor would have been 9 or 10 in T2 and he didn't look 9 or 10. And, obviously, with them going to 2007, Terminator 3 is definately not in this timeline. Terminator 4 will also extend from the Terminator 3 timeline rather than the Sarah Connor Chronicles timeline. However, I hate that they still used the whole Sarah Connor died of cancer thing from Terminator 3 in the show.

And I'm very much assuming those Terminators going after them are still the T-800/850 models. Marlie was confused because they didn't look like Arnold so I had to explain to her that would make them way too easy to spot if they all looked the same. The T-800 in T2 looked like Arnold because John wanted someone recognizable. The same with the T-850 in T3. She got it after that. At least we don't have any prototype T-1000s or T-Xs... yet. You can bet there's going to be a T-1000 at some point in the show.

Yes, I'm a Terminator nerd. Luckily the show didn't break from continuity or I would have been up in arms.

Some other thoughts on the two episodes...

I'm surprised they left the school shooting in. I read months ago they were going to cut it out because of the Virginia Tech shootings. I was more surprised they left it in rather than the fact it was there. Of course, it is Fox and they're rather edgier than the other networks. Oh, and apparently the Terminators are T-888s, although I don't really have an official source, but that would mean they're still within the T-800 model range and the 888 designation would explain why they look slightly different from the T-800 endoskeletons.

See below.  (How much longer will we have to do this?)

I read something about why they left the school shooting in but now I can't for the life of me remember why they did.  It could have had something to do with the length of time from the Virginia Tech stuff until the premiere of the show.

And personally - I could piss some people off but oh well - should they never show a mall shooting ever again?  Or a bridge collasping?  Or a hurricane? Or a seventy car pileup due to smoke and fog?

I don't know why the spoilers aren't working. I typically don't read threads until I've watched the latest episode, anyway.

I call it the "you'd never believe he's the Russian spy" syndrome.  That's when Rich and I sat down to watch "No Way Out" with Kevin Costner, Gene Hackman, and Sean Young.  It had just started and my dad came into the room and said "Oh, that's a good moive, you'd never believe he's the Russian spy" while a character was on the screen.  If you've ever seen the movie, you know you don't want to know that plot development five minutes into the film.

Watched the lastest episode. They definately need to continue the whole Cameron naked or scantily clad theme throughout the series Wink

One thing Vengeance pointed out was why is Cameron so awkward at the school when she fit in perfectly fine in the first school when she made contact with John? Was it because her programming was set just to make contact with him and then everything after that was on the fly? Or did the writers just forget? Or is it just the pilot syndrome where the pilot episode is a bit off from the rest of the series?

Some cool parts: We finally get to hear a Terminator speak as just an endoskeleton. Sweetness. Also, when the scientist dude slices open the eyelids of the Terminator and those red eyes come out... pure awesomeness.

I took notice of that awkwardness with Cameron too.  I guess it was a plot thing so that we wouldn't realize that she was a terminator.  And now we are going to see her "become human".  They have to give John something to do besides whine.

Another thing: How about all the school violence Fox is getting away with in this show? First we have a Terminator shooting up a school and now we have someone taking a nose dive off a building... complete with head splattering goodness.

Where did you hear that? I've heard everything but official confirmation from Fox that it's back for a second season.

I heard that, too, super. Every source that I've found has said it's a sure thing unless something really out of the ordinary changes the network's mind.

It's not anything new. After the first season of 24, Fox played this game as well.

SCC is gearing up for at least the first three episodes for its second season.  Fox has green lighted them to hire directors for those shows.  Not an official announcement but a very promising one.  And if the first three shows, then why not another ten to make a half season?  This is a show that needs to have an end and not leave us with a cliffhanger.
