In the latest episode of CSI: NY, they show the remains of a guy smushed flat by one of those large metal cargo containers. He was also ripped in two as he was smushed by two containers. So, they can show the gruesome remains of a guy getting flattened by cargo containers but they can't show nudity. That is so ridiculously retarded. Completely opposite of a place such as England. There, they have nudity but if someone head butts another person, it either gets cut out or the movie or TV show gets a higher rating...

The Brits have profanity, too. Much more realistic that way. I was watching something the other day and the actor had to substitute "crap" or "hell" where another four-letter word would have worked much better.

k, after watching the episode of CSI:NY in question, I don't think what they showed was all that bad. At least, not compared to some of the other stuff they've showed on CSI. The guy was smushed and ripped in half, yes, but there was very little blood, etc. visible.

I didn't think that it was that gross either. I'm fine with them not showing nudity on TV, because I don't really want my daughter seeing it. I'm fine with her watching the gross stuff like the smushed guy, though. Maybe it doesn't make sense, but that's just how it is. I'm not ready to explain sex to her yet. Death is another matter altogether. She watches pigs get slaughtered for pity's sake.

That shows a big difference of opinion and difference of interest, that's for sure. I imagine I'd be singing a similar tune if I was a parent. I guess since I don't really have to worry about anyone but myself, it's a bit different.
But I guess that's a different topic and to stay on this one, I really didn't think CSI:NY was too awful last night. NCIS on Tuesday was worse... a guy was hit over the head with a baseball bat and then fell like 50 feet to his death. This took place out in the woods so he of course was partially consumed by coyotes before his body was discovered. What they showed of one of his eyes and half of his abdomen being eaten was far more gruesome than the smushed/split body on CSI:NY.

There was also a CSI episode with the dog chewing on some dude's head... separated from the body of course (Grissom's line to the ME: "I heard you got some head.")

I thought when the ME ripped the body chunk down, and the way it fell was pretty gross. But, we were watching it on tape and disnut missed the scene and I replayed it. So, must not have been that bad for me. It wouldn't bother me to have tasteful nudity on American TV. I thing what gets people in this country worked up about nudity is that we are protected from it. Just my opinion. And as far as editing profanity goes, I try not to watch movies that get butchered by replacing words. I had nothing to do one day and had Lethal Weapon 4 on. Mel Gibson's mouth said "bull shit", but out came "poop". C'mon, poop from Mel Gibson???

I thought the way the body fell was kind of funny, actually. Taking into consideration that it was a dead body and that's never funny, of course. I didn't think they'd get it down the way they did. Just letting it fall like that. How did they know that they wouldn't cause more damage to the body and potentially be unable to determine cause of death? I figured they'd get one of those platforms that can raise up or something and bring the body down slowly.

This last CSI episode had a decomposing guy with his head caved in from a shotgun wound. Coyotes were eating the body as well.
My favorite profanity edit of all time is from Die Hard 2. Instead of "Yippee ki yay, mother f**ker" it's "Yippee ki yay, melon farmer." That gets us laughing all the time.

You can see why I refuse to watch movies on TV. Whenever one of those chick flicks Vengeance wants me to see on TV comes on, I say no because they're edited.

You say 'no' and use that as an excuse. Lord help you when I start bringing home the DVD's to watch while you recuperate on the couch.

I must admit I struggle watching CSI-NY b/c of how greusome it is. I LOVE the original CSI, and CSI-Miami is ok. CSI-NY just seems to be over the top a bit. It's on the same time as Without a Trace so I generally watch that now.

I think I prefer Miami for my hotness. They make it so easy, what with the hot weather and all.
