Some genius here in Georgia actually proposed putting the child's weight on their report card.  This was to inform the parents if the child was getting "obese".

Now, if your child is getting "obese", wouldn't you definitely know it?  See it?  Do something about it?

And what is "obese"?  Especially with a child.

This lovely idea was shot down when some wise person brought up the fact that this could lead to some serious eating disorders, especially among young women.  I can see little girls comparing the weights of everyone.  Poor shy girl who is five pounds "overweight" suddenly stops eating.

One guy's reaction when this was being discussed?  Put everyone's IQs on their cars.

It is very interesting living in Georgia.

No way should kids' weights be put on their report cards. Like you said, if a kid is getting larger, then the parents are going to notice and do something about it. If the parents aren't observant enough or don't care enough to notice, then what makes the school board or whoever think that they're going to give a damn about the report card? That's how I see it, anyway.

As for IQs on cars, hell yes. Also, whether or not drivers have their license, insurance, etc. There are so many moron drivers around here. There's no way some of them even have a license.

It's not the schools' job to check kids' weight. They serve pretty much "healthy" food so any other food the kids would eat at school would be food packed by parents...

Personally, I think schools need to butt the hell out of my life. They're bad enough. You wouldn't believe how out of control of my child's life I feel most of the time because of her school.

No, they shouldn't put weights on report cards and they shouldn't put IQ scores on cars. I hate standardized testing, but that's a different debate altogeither.

Add in that it's a waste of tax money to have someone weigh everyone and to be taking BMI (I think that's what it is) measurements.  Had enough of that crap in the Air Force.

ahhh the good ol BMI (bodymass index).  I'll have to deal with that one soon enough, though if i understand it correctly, the BMI can help to compensate if you weigh too much right?  Because me with all my muscle.... i weigh too much for my height haha... actually i need some muscle because i still have 20 lbs to give.
