Wheeee... Jeff Gordon won the Daytona 500. I was pulling for Tony Stewart, though

Yeah, I know, this thread is late. Been busy

Kinda funny how Jr. came out of nowhere at the end but a lap too early (and also funny how all the cautions were after like, 183)

I didn't want Junior to win (although I do like him) and I definately did not want Kurt Busch to win. Once Busch passed Junior, I knew Gordon was going to win. Busch is nowhere near as good as Junior and Gordon are on restrictor plate tracks and Gordon did an awesome job blocking him

Our poor little cat, Nemo, learned NOT to sit next to Mommy when there's a close sporting event on.  When Junior was in the lead, Nemo was getting the stuffings squeezed out of him.  I wanted Junior since he's on my fantasy team.  But Gordon winning wasn't bad.  Didn't want Busch and certainly did not want Stewart.  Elmono and I totally disagree on Stewart.

Stewart has certainly behaved better over the years. I really don't see why you don't like him. Plus he's Demon Child's boyfriend

Was I the only one rooting for Busch?  You have to admit that he ran an awesome race.  When you talk restrictor races, you pretty much are discussing DEI and Hendrick cars.  Gordo was an OK win, but I REALLY didn't want Jr or Stewart to win.  Just would have rather someone other than the "usual" would have won.

At least I have a reason to not like Kurt Busch

Gordon first and Busch second...that's how it SHOULD have been for something else, too, but I won't bring it up.

I'm getting sick of the Daytona 500 mess. I used to watch a race and some stuff that celebrated the beginning of the season and the greatest american race. Now I'm watching a concert with a race on the side.

Watching some of the music made me sick. It had nothing to do with the sport and even less to do with the race. I'm fine with racing becoming more popular, but I'll be damned if I watch it in a few years when freaking Paris Hilton will be planning the pre race show. What a bunch of crap. If the artists want the leather jackets for the race that badly then they can go buy them. No need to insult the fans that were there before they needed a circus to rev the fans up.

Grrr.

I gotta agree that the "Grand Marshall" choice for this year's race was a joke.  Matthew McCongahey?  Did anyone else even listen to his "interview"?  If that man knew what NASCAR stood for, I'd be surprised.

"America the Beautiful" was supposed to be a tribute to Ray Charles.  Nothing was mentioned about that and it turned into the Vanessa Williams Show.  Alicia Keys was supposed to be there - why she wasn't I don't know.

Maybe they should start asking these celebrities to name four other places NASCAR races during the year.  If they can't answer, they have to give up their comfy seats to a deserving fan.

Matthew McCongahey? Hell, he's there just for the eye candy. That's all good with me. hehehe.

Ashton Kutcher waved the green flag, which was cool, but these are the guys that aren't really shown much. The people that are constantly shown, the musical artists were the ones that really messed up. Even the token country singer was no good.
