After spending the last week carefully wording his plea agreement so he didn't plead guilty to gambling, Michael Vick's efforts were for naught.  The NFL has suspendd Vick indefinitely for "cruel and resprehensible" illegal conduct that damaged his team and the NFL.  Never heard that before.

So, even when Vick gets out of prison (sentence to be handed down in November sometime), he will not automatically be eligible to immediately start playing football in the NFL again.

The owner of the Atlanta Falcons, Arthur Blank, supports the NFL's decision and the Falcons will immediately seek to get back their million dollars of signing bonus given to Vick with his 10 year/$100 million contract.

Can't wait to hear the NAACP reaction to this.  Atlanta has already been told that we are a city racially divided on this issue.  I guess I didn't know those poor dogs were of mixed races.

Good lines this week -

Michael Vick should hold on to his soap better than he held on to the football.

The only balls Vick is going to be handling are his cellmate's.

I wonder if he gets any special treatment in the clink since he's famous. I imagine the other inmates probably would have about as much fun with a dog killer as they do with child molesters.

He could be put into a separate wing of the prison or something.  That would be about it, I would think.  They can't totally segregate (hope the NAACP doesn't see that word) him from the rest of the prisioners.  The only way to do that would be to put him in solitary confinement.  And that would be even worse since his prison term would be at least a year.  His lawyer could argue cruel and unusual punishment.

I don't think Vick is going to pull too much of a Paris Hilton here.  I think he'll be going to a federal pen.

I dunno.  I just keep seeing the Deliverance "squeal like a pig" scene in my mind.  Only it's Michael Vick instead of Ned Beatty.
