Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure will feature a themed Harry Potter "island"

LINK

One thing that surprised me was Disney was trying to get the rights to Harry Potter.

Another thing: They said Hogwarts castle was just merely going to be a backdrop. Disney would have created the entire castle as a centerpiece.

I'm confused.  The article (and other articles I've seen) said the Potter thing will be a new theme park, not part of any existing one.  But it's part of Islands of Advenuture at Universal?  Islands of Adventure is a theme park in itself so this would be one "island" or section of the park?  That would make sense with the time frame of it opening in 2009.  There's no way to build a full quality theme park in just two years.  Too bad Universal isn't going to put this in the Studios section of the resort.  That thing is dying.

I don't know a damn thing about Harry Potter - haven't read the books or seen any of the movies.  All I know is that silly b**** down here who was trying to get the books banned in our county finally lost her last appeal.  Potter stays in Gwinnett County (the b**** hasn't read the books or seen the movies either).

It will be a new island that will be next to Jurassic Park and will take up a part of the Lost Continent. I heard that Disney dropped negotiations because JK Rowling was very very specific about how her property should be treated. Of course, I would think Disney would do a much better job with something like that than Universal plus they have the land to do it properly

Kind of sounds like P.L. Travers who didn't want Mary Poppins brought to screen unless she had total control over the project.
