I feel that I have to apologize to Rolando and Super for taking two hours out of their lives that they can't ever get back. I told them to come over to Kissimmee and I'd show them a great evening of miniature golf, Disney style. Yeah, right. They picked the fareways course and I would have talked them out of it but I had to make a pit shop. This is an eighteen hole course that is more like a pitching, chipping, and putting course. None of the fareways are level. They all have bumps, hills and rocks. No turning windmills on this sucker.
Let's put it this way. The average par for the eighteen holes was 63 (I don't know the exact total par because I'm sure Rolando has burned the scorecard by now). Rich won with a 74. And *I* was second with an 81. Remember there were four of us playing the round.
Stroke limit for each hole was six and we all had our fair share of getting up to four and then just giving up with a "write me down for 6". I don't know about anyone else but it was so torturous that at the inth hole, I wanted to just walk away rather than play the other nine. And this was miniature golf that parents take their kids to!
We did have some redeeming points, though. With our Annual Passports, we got 50% off for all four of us. And we had the quote of the day. The guy giving out the clubs had a VERY Bostonian accent. He told us that if the ball went off the caaaa-pet, it was a one stroke penalty. So, for the first half of the course, we said that every time we messed up a shot. Which was a LOT! All of us were off the caaaa-pet at least three times.
And the dinner buffet we had before this was incredible so I think maybe, just maybe, Rolando and Super will forgive me. I hope. At some point in my life. Maybe.

The course was tortuous, yes, but it was fun. There were a couple things that happened that I never thought I'd see: 1) taking 2 hours to play a round of mini golf, 2) getting tee times for mini golf.
I would have liked to walk the whole Boardwalk had there been time but what we did walk did wonders for working off some of the buffet. I was unimaginably stuffed after that. Riding the go-karts would have been about the worst thing I could imagine. Well, save for those two rides across the street at Old Town.
I'm off the caaapet!

That was me. And I enjoyed it. If you're gonna play mini-golf, you might as well get the bang for your buck, especially at Disney. And as Super found out after doing some research, it's the longest, toughest mini-golf course in the world. I had fun, and would have played past six strokes if we didn't have the idiots behind us.

I know I would have never tackled that course. For one thing, I doubt I would have much fun on it.

Yeah, I enjoyed it, too. I would have liked to actually get the ball in the hole more often than I did without bumping the stroke limit.

I had fun, and would have played past six strokes if we didn't have the idiots behind us.
The idiots behind us were a couple of twitty guys who thought we were just goofing around. Probably because we were laughing so damn hard about how lousy we were. Those guys had to wait a few precious moments while we finished up a hole and one of 'em yelled "you're only supposed to take six strokes". Rolando yelled back "you're just going to have to wait at the next hole too!" I wanted to ask them how many times they the replaced their ball on the caaa-pet and didn't take a penalty. Jeez - you think we WANTED to draw out our torture? Rich and I did play this course once before even though Rich doesn't remember it. And we had the same horrible time. We ended up throwing the scorecard away after six holes. It wasn't nearly as crowded so we did get to go over the six stroke maximum. Didn't help one bit but chucking that scorecard sure did. And no elmono, you would not have enjoyed it very much. Just thinking of you and your father in competition at this course has me shuddering. Now we all just have to go back and do the other Fantasia mini golf course. That one does have windmills and dancing hippos.

It also takes two people less time to play than it does four. Wankers.

And don't forget about Rolando searching out any rock he could just bang his ball off of. Made more sense than trying to thread your put over a section of caaapet that was only 3 inches wide.

I probably should have taken a 2-stroke penalty for how far I went off the caaapet on that one hole with the big step down and the water hazard all the way around. I was a good 8 or 9 feet from the green and in the water.

It was on the IMDb as their top story. Wonders never cease as to how the media regards "important" news.
