Watched the premiere tonight. Seems like an interesting show. Oh... the detective at the beginning questioning Mal... I mean Tully was the guy who played Early in Firefly. Guess what his character's name was in the show... Detective Ehrle. Yup... that's right. *credits Vengeance for finding that out on IMDb*

This got leaked earlier today and I downloaded it and just finished watching it right about the same time as it finished airing. So far, so good.

We loved the show.  We had to tape this to watch after Desperate Housewives and Rich wasn't sure he wanted to stay up for two hours since he had work today.  Well, we stayed up.  And downstairs too instead of upstairs in the bedroom.

I thought it was going to be stupid and Rich kept saying "Why are they calling it Prison Break on wheels?"  The man doesn't understand the art of marketing.  Dear - this show is replacing Prison Break, they are trying to get that audience to watch.

Anyway - it really surprised me.  Normally, with a show like this, it takes a while for me to feel anything for the characters especially with the action being so fast.  I even ended up liking that blonde bitch when she figured out a way not to get herself killed.

The only problem we had (and Super will experience this soon) was the driving in Florida.  Way off the mark.  There is no way in hell all those people could have gotten out of Key West without creating a MAJOR traffic jam.  The only way in and out of Key West is Route 1.  Two lanes, one each way.  The highest speed limit is 55 MPH over the seven mile bridge (featured at the end of True Lies).  And there is a very protected area that is the natural habitat of little deer and if you go over 25 MPH through that, you WILL be stopped.  If not by the police, by the locals (they have the power to stop any speeder during that stretch).

And - this is what Super will know.  If there is a shuttle launch scheduled, you will get nowhere near Cape Canaveral.  And those people were running through the Visitor's Center?  And getting that close to the shuttle?

OK - so we were picky.  They are next going to Rome, GA and the distance they were given is about right.  Except I hope it's the weekend.  Because if they are suppoed to be there after dusk but before sunset, they will have to go through Atlanta rush hour during the week.

Still loved the show, though.

BTW - the guy who played Detective Erhle is Richard Brooks who played Paul Robinette, the first ADA on the original Law & Order.

Vengeance, Super, and I were psyched to watch this show because of one man: Nathan "Malcolm Reynolds" Fillion. And I'm happy to say there's a little bit of Mal in his character in Drive.

They called it Prison Break on wheels because Prison Break is an insanely popular show, despite what the inaccurate ratings say (since I doubt the Nielson ratings take into account DVRs, watching shows online, and downloading shows)

But you know Fox, they'll cancel Drive after this next episode because they never give a show a chance.

I've been wanting Drive for months now. I don't even remember when I first heard about it but having Tim Minear and Nathan Fillion attached to a show again is just awesome.

I don't know any of the actors except Dylan Baker, Charles Martin Smith, and Richard Brooks.  But I think they are all good.

Last night, we determined that we're giving up on looking at the backgrounds of the driving scenes.  It's California.  Last night sure as hell wasn't Georgia.  At least they got the sequence of cities correct.  And the fact that you have to take I10 over to I75 from Cape Canaveral to get to Rome.  Pissed me off when they didn't show the damn movie at the end.

Just looked at the ratings from Sunday night.  Don't get too attached to the show.

Ratings are... overrated. Hopefully being in front of 24 will help a little.

I haven't seen yesterday's show yet. But in the premiere, I knew the first clue about Jupiter. I was like "It's a city!" See, baseball does teach you things: I knew Jupiter was a city in Florida because that's where some teams have their spring training.

It's no surprise that the ratings weren't great from Sunday. Hopefully having it lead in to 24 last night improved them and it did better yesterday. I've been excited about the show since I heard about it but knowing that it was on Fox, I knew the deck was stacked against it from the start. If I were Tim Minear or Nathan Fillion, I'd just about have to refuse doing any project for Fox after their mishandling of Firefly. Bastards.

Having it be a lead in for 24 didn't do any good either.  Really bad Monday night.

Unless one of the mid-season (or almost end of season) replacements are totally WOW! it's very difficult to build an audience because everyone is already stuck into a normal routine.  Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader has taken off because of Idol and the fact that ABC hasn't shown a first run Ugly Betty since Fifth Grader has been on.  I love Fifth Grader (have a bit of a crush on Jeff Foxworthy) and I will tape Betty this week but it's going to be tough to retain those initial viewers now that Betty is back.

I hope Fox gives it a chance if for no other reason that everything else will be ending soon and it may have more breathing room as the seasons of other shows come to an end. Knowing Fox, this will not be the case and it'll likely get the boot. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens as soon as today, honestly. Stupid Fox.

I noticed something in TV Guide with a Fox show. 'Til Death, a show on the verge of cancellation, got 14.5 million viewers and placed in the top 10 a few weeks ago. Maybe that will show Fox to give shows a chance and things may pick up. Ideally, the best thing to do would put Drive after 24 but 9:00 has been 24's time slot since it started so it would be hard to change that. If it weren't for stupid American Idol, they could have put Drive behind House or Bones to help it a bit.

And remember one little show that was on the verge on cancellation but got a last minute reprieve.  Something called Seinfeld?

There's also things like JAG which start on one network, get the boot, and then get picked up by other networks and run for 8 more years and spawn a spinoff that's now in its fourth year. I don't know how often that happens but whenever I think about that, it's pretty amazing. It's hard to believe that that would happen with any shows and networks today.

Family Guy was revived from cancellation after Fox found out how stupid they were for cancelling it. If only Firefly came back...

I think every discussion we ever have regarding Fox will immediately be followed by either "If only Firefly came back..." or "Stupid Fox"

Fox is still a relatively new network.  When was it when we moved from three main networks to four main networks?  I think some people still see Fox as a "dirty" network.  Married with Children and The Simpsons.  Some people have never watched an episode of The Simpsons because it's all about that brat and the family hates each other.  And, like I said, they've never seen an episode of The Simpsons.

Hell, even ABC is "edgy" for those old farts.

Why is it they never wait past two or three weeks before cancelling a show?

They'd probably just cancel our letters, anyway.
