Let the rebooting of franchises continue! The next Star Trek movie is not a sequel nor a prequel. It's a reboot. I didn't think they'd have the balls to reimagine the Star Trek franchise.

I thought I just read where the new film would be about Kirk and Spock meeting at Starfleet Academy?  And give me my due for knowing it was Starfleet Academy.

According to the article, they're definately putting them on a ship because it would make no sense to "create" a "new" series called Star Trek and not have them trekking through the stars

Yeah, the Enterprise would still be featured because as quoted "you can't have a Star Trek movie and NOT have an Enterprise".  This would be of them meeting and their first mission together.

And this also means there goes my hope for a movie with some of the DS9 characters Sad I mean, come on... even Janeway appeared in a movie yet none of the DS9 characters have (Worf and O'Brien are excluded because they're original TNG members)!

Well, there's hope.  William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy have been approached to do cameos.  Can you say "time travel"?

I doubt they'd do that. They'd probably play some random Starfleet officer. Remember, it's a reboot so technically Matt Damon would be the only person to have played Kirk in this new Trek universe
