I posted this on my woman's forum and it got a huge debate going so I thought I'm do this over here and get the "guys" side of things.  The females can also join in.

The first weekend in June has been, for the past several years, Gay Days at Disney World.  It is not endorsed or sponsored by Disney World.  It grew out of an organization who wanted to have a meet and chose Disney World as the destination.  Now, it's a full force event.  Basically, the organization choses one "park of the day" that they encourage people to attend to show support.  Gays and lesbians are also encouraged to wear red shirts as another sign of support.  The largest turnout is at Magic Kingdom on Saturday.  The Disney parks are opened and running as normal.

The questions - Would you go over this weekend this event was going on?  If you have a family, would you feel comfortable with your children possibly seeing gay and lesbian couples enjoying each other (there's very little PDA)?  Would you go and just avoid the "park of the day" (no guarantee you won't see gays and lesbians at other parks)?  Would you just cancel the vacation and reschedule?  Would you get so mad at Disney World for allowing this (even though they don't endorse it or sponsor it) that you'll never go to Disney World again in your life?

There are other non Disney sponsored events that go on throughout the year.  Next to this one, the most attended is Mousefest where thousands of Disney forum members get together and have meets all over Disney World.

Thoughts?  Opinions?  I'm not posting my opinions because I don't want to influence the start of the debate.  And there shouldn't be any person who should get shot down because of why they think.

Gays meeting up for day is no different from, say, fans from a sports team meeting up for a day. Anybody who thinks different can strap themselves to a rocket and launch themselves into the sun.

Was there already a topic about this, or am I just dreaming these things?  Serious deja vu here.
