I remember a topic in the old forum addressing putting music in the game.  What do I need to convert to and how do I tag that in a menu?  -as in, adding a line into existing menus so they play music when opened and stop when closed.

playing music while you play or adding music in a map?

If adding music to a map, I believe its 8 bit mono.

I'm just talking about putting it in the startup menu and that's it- or until you start a game anyway.  My computer right now probably wouldn't handle trying to play music while running the game.  I only have about 40-50 fps.

You mean like background music in the menus?

There's a "play" command that can play wav files.  I think they have to be mono.  You could just put something like "play menumusic.wav" in your autoexec.cfg and it would play when you start the game.  You could also add the command to the menu file itself.

ok, I can do the play command when the menu starts.  How would I make it stop if it was in the startup?  I would prefer it not to hurt the gameplay...

just out of curiosity, is there a looping or random command? (random like the in-game sounds)

ok after some testing I found out that the music playing in the menu will stop automatically when you start/join a game.
