hey jitspoe ive msged you on irc about this idea befor but you never responded to it so im going to bring my idea to your forums for a anti cheat method that might work well for active server admins.
You should make some sort of method soo the admins can force a user to take a screenshot from there pc and send it to the admin... "force_sshot <id>"
sure you got anti cheats for wall hacks and aim bots but what about the people modifing the textures... skins... models.....
from my experiance it would be very easy to make moded characters that are long and wide and tall enough to see around corners.... its not hard..... and even if you wrote a checksum they could just make a mesh with the same ammount of vertices unless you track there individual cords.... which would be alot more work then relying on a admin to force a sshot.

Good idea, but it could be abused by whoever the admin is to lag the player. I know when i take a screenshot my game always freezes for a few seconds.

I remember when Iron made me do this where it sent them to a website/lagged every 3 seconds, that was uber irritating. To avoid abuse, admins should only be able to do it a set amount of times within a certain time bracket.
Better yet, why not just make it automated where admins have no control over it and it is just sent straight to the person's global login page after being screenshotted at random (reasonable) intervals? These would have to be cleared eventually to create more space, but admins (or anyone else for that matter) could feel free to look at it at any time, eliminating the issue of abuse entirely.

i was more or less thinking it should send a screenshot directly to that admins client. and give him an option of saving the sshot with the users name\ip-dns info. and not to be a repeated process... to even make it go faster just make a set size for the screenshot to be sent. something small but big enough to get some detail and it could be something like that is sent slowly threw packets soo it wouldnt lag...

If cheat makers are getting around what anti-cheat is available now -- what anti-cheat will be introduced in B17 or even what anti-cheat may be included in B18 -- then it will be trivial to bypass the very old tactic of gathering client screenshots.
B17 will see the introduction of checksum based anti-cheat on game content (models, skins, etc.). This is also trivial to bypass by anyone with enough skills and a little time. However it makes it a lot harder to cheat than the current methods we're seeing (i.e. using mspaint or just downloading a model and changing a cvar).
By the way, if jitspoe is going to do anything with TCP... I'd rather see him implement fast content downloads, rather than a protocol to upload screenshots.

you mean like an option to make sprays like in cs or extra models for the level or something silly like that or just downloading maps\textures??

Like 300KB/s map downloads instead of 4KB/s

How about directing the game to a site that has all of the maps (but still connected to the server) so the sped up download does not cause lag? This would, of course, require all the maps in one spot.

That's what I was getting at.

Believe it or not, there is a super secret screenshot command built into some of the more current builds floating around on the servers. There are still the issues pointed out in this thread, though, so I won't be revealing it until they are resolved, if ever. Many people have issues with screenshots freezing up the game, so that could cause some serious game play interference. Also, there's the issue of where to upload the screenshots, and how.
By the way, it seems you don't have an understanding of how hashing algorithms work. It's not merely the number of vertexes in a model or pixels in an image. Creating another model so that it has the same resulting hash is nearly impossible You have about a 1 in 3.4028e+38 chance (that's 3 with 38 digits after it) in getting the same hash twice.

I can tell you that taking a screen shot and catching modified paintball skins and paintball models in flight is all but impossible. (paintball skins and models meaning the actual ball itself) Thought i'd throw that juicy bit in there for you

Screenshot thing is sort of a bad idea, because how would it be sent to the server/admins without massive lag? Perhaps it could be a low quality, 300*300 screenshot, and if it looks suspicious then further action should be taken

I like this idea as well but I also have to comment on how hilereous it is for anyone to believe that any admin for any of the present long standing high speed game servers ( EV1, Ch1ll, OTB, GRaFFiTi or any others) would waste there time purposely trying to lag players with a function like this like they have nothing better to do....
What a rediculous assumption...

But using admin power to force them to spectators is alot better.

It's not so much that people will abuse it (though that's certainly possible), but just in general, it will interfere with some people's game play. The times when it would be most critical to get screenshots are mid-play when other players are in view.
