Okay...Pat's got a touchdown and he did his little mockery of the Eagles. So what do I do? That's right, what does the WIFE do on her anniversary? "Oh no you didn't! You just go back to your f*cking bench, you piece of ballsucking shit!" First anniversary is so romantic. So much for getting a kiss on THIS dirty mouth.

Paul McCartney >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson, and whoever else they had at the half-time show last year.
And yes, there was an F-22 flyover at the end of the National Anthem (which was one of the best arrangements I've ever heard of it - I didn't catch who exactly it was, but I think it may have been one of the choirs from one of the academies).

Oh no...it was the choirs from four academies. Naval, West Point, I don't remember the other two and then the trumpets from another academy. That whole ceremony was great. And two thumbs up to the halftime show performance. It was nice to see that there's still some class in football.

Hrms... how many academies are there? There's the Air Force Academy, West Point, the Naval Academy, I believe there's a Coast Guard Academy. That's all I can think of. I think I heard that the trumpets and percussion were Air Force. If there were four choirs, they'd have to be Army, Coast Guard, and doubled up on the Naval Academy with the Navy and the Marines. I wonder if we can find out for sure and get a recording of it. I always get goose bumps when I hear the National Anthem and they did a very nice job with it, tonight.

Here's the article about it. They did an outstanding job. I couldn't find who was playing the trumpets, though.
Air Force Academy cadets will join fellow service academy cadets to sing the national anthem to kick off Super Bowl XXXIX.
The 25-voice Cadet Chorale will join with cadets from the U.S. Naval Academy Glee Club, West Point Choir and U.S. Coast Guard Academy Choir to perform in Jacksonville, Fla., on Feb. 6.
This joint choir will perform in tribute to World War II veterans, who will be honored at this event. Veterans from various units and organizations, including the Tuskegee Airmen, will be present.
This is the first time in 30 years that all four service academies will be singing together. The last time was in 1973 for President Nixon's inauguration.
The last time the Cadet Chorale sang at a Super Bowl was in 1972.

Nice. Good find. So all four academies, 1 music, 3 vocal. Either way, though, they did a good job.

I'm a Rams fan so I'm nowhere near as invested in this as some members, but the more misery the Patriots are in, the more I enjoy it!
Screw you, Patriots!

I'd highly enjoy it if the Patriots would all just keel over and die right now. The Eagles would win by default if nobody on the opposing team is alive to play, right?

I feel the same way. I don't like their coach and I don't like them. I am a Green Bay fan first and foremost(although I enjoy a lot of the teams) and once they were out of it I just wasn't as into the super bowl. Now I'm just disappointed because the Patriots suck.

Actually, I believe that those four academies were all vocal. The trumpets were something else. I'm not sure if they were a military academy or something else, but members from the choirs of all four academies were singing.

On the music: All four acadamies were involved in the chorus, and the trumpets were from the Army.
Also: God damn the Patriots. I would highly enjoy it if their plane would take a nice 600 mph vertical dive into the Atlantic on their way home. Welcome to the Yankees of the NFL.

That's just wrong... although I've probably said the same thing about the Yankees at one point

Oh, and the commercials this year were not of the typical Super Bowl caliber. I bet it's the FCC's fault.

Here's my take on the Super Bowl -
Yeah, I'm not happy about the Patriots and their "dynasty". I'm already sick and tired of hearing that comment. But the result will never change. We'll live with it for the next year.
The pregame stuff was awesome. The salute to the military was great. The flyover was nice but us NASCAR fans get that every week. You want great American support, watch the pre race NASCAR stuff.
"America the Beautiful" was wonderful. The pairings of the new artists with the older groups was amazing. Everyone left their egos at the door (remember "We Are the World"?).
Halftime was great but with all the new FCC crap, didn't anyone else think "JoJo was a man who thought he was a woman" went into the middle ground? Sir Paul did a great job but the FCC has no freaking clue as to what the lyrics were. That put that whole organization on the "hypocritical" list for me.
Favorite commercial - the one for Ameraquest. Where the guy comes home and is lovingly preparing dinner for his significant other and the cat spills the spaghetti sauce all over itself. The guy picks the cat up, the woman opens the door and it looks like the guy has gutted the cat. I was rolling with that one.
Other than that, it was a very interesting Super Bowl but the end result sucked. Oh well. Here's to next year and the Falcons going into the game.

The flyover was different in the Super Bowl than in NASCAR races only because they used F-22s, the newest fighter in the US military and there's not very many of them. I think at last count there were three F-22s in operational service.
