Ok, I know there's a lot of generations of consoles out there (that's the point, there will be discussion involved), but on the whole, who makes the best consoles? (I ask this because right now I'm busy playing FFVII on my PC, lol)

Nintendo does. And no one can beat the first-party games for their systems

It's a little tougher now without SquareEnix, though... only negative

Square's not made a game for a Nintendo system since 1995 or so, have they? Or if they have, nothing anywhere near as big as stuff like FF3 and Chrono Trigger.

Yep, the last one they made was FF3... FF7 was on PSX (and 3 came right before 7 for anyone who doesn't know the way that the series was numbered, lol)

Ah, there's been at least one good FF game for the Nintendo systems since then. I enjoyed Crystal Chronicles on the Gamecube/Gameboy DS (that and 4 swords were cool that you got to use the DS as controllers for the Gamecube).
That and I'm still lovin my Wii. Zelda's friggin awesome.

Ah, there's been at least one good FF game for the Nintendo systems since then. Not to say they haven't had games, but they lost exclusivity then.

Not so much. I have FF7 and 8 and played them a bit but couldn't really get into it. And the random battles piss me off, too

I used to be. Nothing beats Chrono Trigger. After 10+ years, it's still my favorite game.

I'm still all about FFVII... Chrono is right there in the top 3 ahead of FF3... rounding out the 5 are Secret of Mana and Earthbound

Good lord, every time I click on Main, there's another new post in here.
I don't really have an absolute favorite genre on console. Depends if the game is good enough for me or now. I do have all the console Resident Evil games, though

Consoles are tough to pin down for a good genre...
It's definitely not FPS, that goes to PC easily... it'd probably have to be sports or RPG (though PCs are trying to steal that with MMORPGs, but consoles still have their share of success)

Sports games tend to play better on consoles. All the sports games I acquired for the PC pretty much required a game pad to play correctly. But in the end I'd rather have the sports games on the PC because of how easy it is to update uniforms and rosters and get user created stuff since companies like EA don't bother to make hi-res textures for their games
