So, as public servers rotation is either boring/overplayed/ then pickups should make things more interesting. Today we played and had 7 players but 1 decided to leave as he thought it wouldnt be fun 4v3 or something and then haze left because his team sucked and then it went all bad lol (map was crimethink). So, tomorrow 18GMT i would like to play another pickup game. I think its about 11-12 to americans. Server would be ch1ll (if they dont work again then GT or some german server, that woudlnt cause a big problem because at that time most players should be euros anyway). I think we should play 2 maps. I hope we get atleast 3v3 going so maps should be big enough. And lets not play propaint1 . So, tomorrow (17.01) 18GMT all join #dppug @ GG-C!

I made a simple mIRC pickup script over the past few weeks. Whenever I'm online you can join #dpger_pickup (GlobalGamers) for a pickup game, though it's basically Germans since it's an offspring of the German #dpger community.

GlobalGamers.
I think that ETG has died for most of the community, so all the action is on the new network now.

Pretty sure I've done this type of thing several times with nothing to show for it. I've made the #dppug channel on etg and had a pug bot made for it. No matter what, newbies will come in there with diff names cause they dont want people to know who they are cause theyre terrible. Then they leave if they do bad, its pointless.

We had a weekly pickup game going for a little while. Actually, it was every 8 days so it would cycle through the week and offer people with different schedules a chance to play. The turnout was big on the first day, but it wasn't well organized. Future pickups were more organized, but the popularity progressively declined, and it started to turn into more of a pub - people would just join and leave whenever they felt like it and it was hard to keep any kind of structure. It seems the more frequent something is, the less seriously it is taken. Maybe a monthly pickup would be more feasible. I don't think a daily pickup game would work well at all. Not with a community of this size.

I agree with jits on daily being too often, but monthly isn't often enough. every 10 days maybe?

Eiii, really, have you lately played at least ONE pickup (speaking of skaters pickup-channel)? Yes, once may be possible but not more than that.

Well yuh, i quit, no PUGs by me. After 2nd dude came to talk to me that i should pick normal maps (I chose carpathian and roundup). FFS pug is not a pub game, pug has players who use IRC therefore they are advanced more than average no-strafe-pub-newbie, so playing on decent and interesting maps should be possible, but noooo, come and criticise!

Yep. I played quite a few when jits was running it, and tried to start it back up with Cobo or someone when it died. It failed pretty miserably.
