What genre of music do you like/listen to?
I will go with hip-hop because of the bass and beat, it calms me down as well as gets me hyped.
If your preferred music isn't up here then i'm sorry and will add it as a request, just pm it.

Voted rock although lately - and by lately, I meant the last couple of years - it's really mellowed out more to indie rock and indie pop stuff rather than just rock.

Although those two aren't on the poll anyway. I'd think those two categories would fall under the very broad categories listed in the poll

i listen to more types of rock than i do rap or hip-hop. when i listen to rap its cause of the bass and beat like boozie said. expecially bumping the system in the car.

I clicked on rock, though my rock tastes are extreme. Heavy metal is definitely my fave, though my fave band is Depeche Mode who are decidedly not rock.

The poll is there for a reason. VOTE! I am forced day in and day out to listen to mostly Rap from my teens...
Hip-Hop is different than Rap. Most teens today listen to Hip-Hop. Rap is more of an underground (not distrubuted world wide) and Hip-Hop isn't underground. If your teens listen to Rap then they must have had to dig a bit to find some, depending on their culture and were there from.

I stream DI.fm at the office ( I tell my boss that I use the live stream to check for network outages: stream goes away, I might have a problem :p)
Usually have my changer loaded with anything from Alex Morph to Paul van dyke to arrmin van burren to blank and jones.
Lately Im hooked on the 3 disc set of Trance Nation 22. There is a mix in there with vocals from Natalia Ali that are just phenominal.
Backup to that is the 2 cd set of Trance Energy 2006.
Wife hates it. She can't stand the constant beat. I love it because the good producers can mix these songs so that before you know it, the sets over. Keeps me energised when working on things.

Anyway, I voted the first day the thread was made... Also, it's RAP and Hip Hop that my kids listen too.

Rap is mixed in with Hip-Hop, but it is more of Hip-Hop than rap. I look at Rap is its own thing.

I don't really listen to music much. It's too distracting. My productivity drops to about 1/3 what it normally is -- if even that. Usually I end up stopping everything and just listening to the music. When I do listen to music, I guess it's mostly considered Rock.

Not being very knowledgeable in the styles I personally don't even consider to be music (certainly not singing, at the very least), I did a quick google search for rap vs hiphop: http://blogcritics.org/archives/2006/10/19/071848.phpSounds to me like hip-hop is a type of rap, so if you don't listen to rap, you don't listen to hip-hop.
