I think the barrels are sweet as they are.

I've seen many companies that take the quick way out and repaint old 50 gallon barrels with cheap paint and the end result is barrels where the paint chips and peels off from weathering making it look like that.

The original color of that barrel was green LOL

It may be realistic and such, but looks really ugly. :/

New compile...no textures yet.
Still a fast vis rad compile.
Tried a full compile that took 4 days to finish and it ended up with like no lighting. So i'll have to deal with that.

Nice work.  Even with the old textures, it still has a completely new look to it.  The reason for the long compile times (and eventual lack of lighting) is probably that phong shading on the sand textures.  Are you using the new BSP pack?  I'm not sure if the .wal change is retroactive - you might have to go unset the values on all those sand textures.  You might want phong shading on the ground sand, though.  Just not on the buildings.

I actually plan on removing most, if not all the sand (maybe).
I will definitely be removing the sand texture from all buildings and walls.

I'd just do a quick select by texture, change the value to 0, and apply brush.  That will make your compile times much faster in the meantime.

Run and Gun / Rush or Die, Defensive progression, Evasive flanking for superior ambush points etc etc...?

Update...
Trying out some custom textures so offering the latest BSP would be pointless.
I'll post up the textures once I've chosen which I'll be using, and finish tweaking them or whatever.

I think the peach colored texture is too bright.  It almost looks like it's glowing.
