I was just thinking of all the times elmono would be eating Doritoes in the car and we'd be gagging at the smell. That's what was on my mind the whole time reading that article. I was laughing my ass off thinking about it though.

I thought I'd put up the conversations throughout the day I've had to put up with. I put it on the other forum, but OMG, I about kicked people's asses today.

Okay, I got pissed becasue my column was scrutinized heavily today and loved heavily today. Who hated it? Staff at BGSU and some old citizens. Who loved it? Students and younger citizens.

Here are the things I dealt with today.

Someone: It says 'Blowjobs'!

Me: It's what the fucking article is ABOUT!

Someone: You need to think about who reads this. What if a ten year old child picked this up?

Me: If a ten year old child understands what the hell I'm talking about in this column then someone needs to ask the parents what in hell they're doing.

Someone: This is a local paper!

Me: Maybe if this paper catered to the students instead of the community, who already have a paper, then this wouldn't be an issue, but no, you neglect the students and let every Tom, HICK, and Harry dictate what you run in your paper and it's not even FOR them!

Someone: We're getting a lot of staff complaints about the blow job article.

My editor: It's not like they're not doing it, too.

Someone: It's a very raunchy column!

Me: It's a very raunchy topic. Just because you lie down, spread your legs, and go all missionary style for procreation only doesn't mean other people aren't sticking dicks in their mouths.

Someone: It's irresponsible to tell people to think for themselves and then tell them how good sex feels.

Me: It's more irresponsible for me to lie to my audience.

Someone: This is not balanced reporting. You're telling them it's okay to have oral sex.

Me: It IS balanced reporting because I'm also telling them it's okay to NOT have oral sex.

Someone: Why does she have to write about sex?

Opinion Editor: Um...it's a SEX column.

Someone: You expect to be taken seriously as a journalist when you write trash like this?

Me: I expect to be taken seriously as a journalist because I write truthfully about what I know my readers want to read despite being told not to by people like you.

Secretary of Student Affairs: You have to do something. Everyone is complaining about the column.

Advisor: Any of them students?

Secretary: No

Advisor: Then why am I talking to you?

Someone: Your column is tasteless.

Me: No pun intended?

Someone: *thinks*

Me: *smirks like the bitch I am*

Someone: *horrified face*

Me: *walks away*

Someone: *bitch bitch bitch - says something totally untrue*

Me: *points out their mistake*

Someone: *feels stupid*

Me: You know, maybe if you took your foot out of your mouth once in awhile today's column would make more sense to you.

And my favorite:

Someone: Now all these kids are going to start having oral sex!

Me: Yeah, cuz none of them were doing it before.

Wow. People read a column about sex and then get offended that the column is about sex? What the hell, people? What the hell?

Man, why would people who are easily offended read a sex column? Just boggles the mind. And why are they offended when it's NATURAL? Heck, I had that picture of a monkey getting a blow from another monkey. So tell me that stuff isn't natural...

Oh man, I was laughing so hard (no pun intended - that one cracked me up!) with the comments. How the hell can non students think they have the right to complain about this article? I'm sorry but isn't the title of the paper BG News? Isn't it prepared and published by the college? So it's a local paper. We're right up here with hte University of Georgia and if I came across one of their school papers, I would expect just the type of columns like you wrote. Stuff for, oh I don't know, THE STUDENTS!

Unbalanced reporting? Hell no. You had three people interviewed. One was very blunt. One was "no way I'm doing it". The guy was middle ground. The girl who said no way was a great example for women who don't want to do it. You know the guy is going to say "oh baby, everyone does it". No, not everyone does. And I loved the reciprication thing. The guy can't be getting all the fun that way.

Stupid narrow minded idiots. But at least you have a sense oof bitchy humor to deal with it. And it sounds like the people you need on your side are on your side. Love your advisor.
