In the market for a new headset. I've always used the Logitech USB Stereo 350 Headphone w/ Microphone + Volume Control but am looking for other suggestions for USB headset/mic combos.
I think I tried the 250 once but the craftsmanship was very bad and it broke quiet easily.

I don't know a whole lot about combos but I know that I love my setup. I've got a set of Sennheiser HD-555 headphones and Logitech's USB microphone. It sounds great and the USB mic has been great.

good inquiry doug! i'm sorta in the market for one myself, you've heard mine. ha ha, it's jacked up from a cat attack. it has multiple bite wounds, too many to fix. im really interested in the combo setups as well, ive read the ads and manufacturers comments, but nothing beats personal experience.

Yeah I've heard yours. Scary! LOL Well, I'm pretty impressed with the sound quailty of the 350s but am really curious as to what else out there is good. So that cat eats headsets, what's the Rot eat?? LOL

That's how I read that at first. I'm just picturing this kid walking down the street listening to MP3's with his wireless headphones then PiCaSSo comes jumping out of the bushes. I have the same USB mic that Supermercado does (I'm the one who convinced him to buy it, along with 2 or 3 other friends of mine). I think it was like $30, but the quality is worth it. You just have to figure out how to turn up the input volume on it, so you can disable other quality reducing amplification, it and it sounds excellent. You can have it sitting a good 3-4 feet away and still pick up well. It's bad for background noise and speakers, though. For headphones, I would personally recommend the Grado SR-60's. They look kind of ghetto like they haven't been redesigned since about 1940, but they work well. I also got the Sennheiser HD-555 by Supermercado's recommendation, and to be honest, the SR-60's sound just as good and are a little more comfortable once they get worn in. They're also very open, so you can hear other things going on (I like this for LAN parties). That can be good or bad, though.

You can have it sitting a good 3-4 feet away and still pick up well. more like 15 feet.Don't have 2 of these microphones together at the same time since it makes this horrible echoing effect that really annoying when discovered in the middle of a game(wtf! was that!some kind of animal? Wait!this is bf2 not Aliens). As for headphones i have RCA HP450's which i got for 13$ and sound great also second as 2.1 speakers if you turn the volume up .

Yeah, the USB mic can be really sensitive if you turn it up. Jitspoe and I were sitting side-by-side when he came to my apartment a month ago to game for a weekend and we just used one mic in between us when we were in Ventrilo.

Haha, then there was the time at the LAN party when I spoke through the CS voicecom and it picked up again through your speakers almost perfectly, but it became more and more distorted each time because of the compression.

LOL Never had this problem but the 350 is very good quality sound so I don't get all those issues, like back ground noise, that require me to have to press a key to talk.

I was referring to tenchu. If the 350 is good, why are you getting another?

The mic part of mine stopped working and I was just curious if there were other compatible brands that others thought were good quality under say $40. I think I'll stick to the 350 though... Thanks for all the input

If you've got a working headset but the mic is busted, I really would recommend just jumping on that USB mic from Logitech. I got mine for $20 at Amazon plus $5 to ship it. It has the added benefit of not taking up any sound card-related ports, too, which is kinda nice.

yeah i had to get th usb version since there were issues with my x-fi extreme gamer card. Since the idiots put the two ports together(linein/mic) and i cant get a mic to work in the mic port and no one seem to have a fix or answer why. and also whos fault is it that priming grenades is scroll? i mean why prime a blob of paint anyway.
