MBR
« on: Jan 03, 2007, 09:36 PM »

I need help repairing the MBR on an older computer i have. It was screwed up when Ubuntu froze during installation, and come to find out my recovery disk for windows, that originally came with the computer (cant believe i still have it), only copies files onto a current partition. And yes I tried to install Xubuntu, the version for older low-end computers. It still froze. Any ideas or links to help me out? Thanks.

I have no idea if this will actually help but I happened to see it while reading another forum and thought it might be of some use: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk. The guy that recommended said it restored his MBR when a gentoo Linux install went bad. Maybe it'll help you out.
